very rare Ibanez RG 4020 QMBS

Hi all...
I like to present my little treasure:

An Ibanez RG 4020 QMBS (Prestige) guitar from 1996.
Very rare and limited model. Only sold in Japan and few european countries.
Bought it as new in 96.

It has a beautiful quilted maple finish, gold hardware and the "Petrucci"-electrics.
Notice the position of the tone and volume-knobs and the tree-way-switch, which splits both humbuckers in middle position.
Every one who knows the song "Pull me under" of Dreamtheater should know what I mean.
Very impressive clean-sounds.
I was told that a german guitar magazine remarked that this guitar has been build in a quantity of 28 pieces. Haven't had much luck in getting additional infos from Ibanez support and our german reseller Meinl.

Indeed a goddess of Ibanez guitars in a good condition.

Unfortunately I could be forced to sell my honey because of the forthcoming birth of our child.
I hope I could prevent this... we'll see...

Anyhow.. if someone of you is interested in additional facts (or knows something about production quantity and that sort of stuff) and pictures contact me at gosar [at] gosar [dot] de

Here are the pics... the sundown made it hard to take good pictures. Very much mirroring effects from objects in my garden.. sorry

Greetings,

Andre

Funny thing is, it looks a lot like Petrucci's new EBMM (with gold HW tho)

Re: very rare Ibanez RG 4020 QMBS

Hmm ... these are DiMarzio Pickups without a product-type label.
From the sound I have to say yes.
I a german board, someone who owns alle the three JPMs and his bandmate owned a RG 4020 said that the pickups are the same...

Is there a way to get the pickup-type without a label?

Here is a freehand picture I made a minute ago.. sorry.. it's not very sharp.
Obviously, the pickups are a little different, because the polpieces of the bridge-pickups some bigger allen screws (looks like it...)

Can somebody help in this question?

Re: very rare Ibanez RG 4020 QMBS

Only way to know is to take them out and see the backplate...

Looking at the polepieces all i can tell you is theyre not Evos, ToneZones or Air Nortons...

Could be Breeds, Freds, I think the SS looked like that too...

I think the bridge one could be a Steve's Special and the neck isn't an Air Norton. Compare these in my JPM:

SS in the bridge and AN in the neck

The bridge pickup might be a Steve's Special.
The neck is not an Air Norton, definitely! It might be a PAF Pro, though.

Anyways, there are a lot of DiMarzios that look just like that one. The best thing you can do is to take them off in her next string replacement and check out the model number written on the baseplate.

P.S.: They aren't Breeds because Breeds have a black baseplate.
