Volume Pot Seizing

Hey guys I have a 2007 Rg2570 and my volume pot has seized up, after I get a proper size flathead to get the damn thing off I'll see if there is anyway of saving the thing. If not should I just buy a pot from Rich or are there better pots that will sound better than the ibanez ones or would it be risky for my tone to chg model pot?

Re: Volume Pot Seizing

Just grab a 500k CTS pot locally and swap it out.

Re: Volume Pot Seizing

Mine seized up in my RG550 20th ann. and I used the CTS pot but had to widen the hole in my pickguard and I also needed extra washers underneath to keep the height correct. I wouldn't think your tone would be affected negatively by using a non-Ibanez pot, if anything I would think there would be improvements due to the higher quality of the CTS pots.

Re: Volume Pot Seizing

ok, I will probably take out the pot and compare it to the ones at my local shop to see if its pretty much the same size because if the hole has to be bigger on my guitar I'd have to cut wood but I definitly believe that a non-ibanez pot would probably sound better since they seem higher quality than ibanez's, at least recent pots.

Re: Volume Pot Seizing

Sometimes you can save an old pot by spraying it with some contact cleaner and working it around. It might be worth a try, before you replace it.
