Quite an unusual guitar from Y2K, all mahogany body in vintage violin finish !!! Piezo is useful if you need it, not sure how great the original pups are though ???

Re: What Does Everyone Think About The RG2027XVV

Do some searches round the forum.... it is a guitar held in very high regard by all who own them and all who have owned them.

Your right about the pickups though... it was a mistake not to put dimarzios in there... and because of that a relatively high proportion of the 2027's out there come with after market pickups ...

A truly fantastic guitar! and also quite rare ... both qualities are reflected in the price.

I have two 2027's and I will never sell them, and yes they both are equipped with dimarzios, and the three way swith for magnetic, piezo, and both. I think the 2027 sounds better than the universe as well.
According to visuality, they are not as cool as the universe, but that's taste.

Best guitar Ibanez ever built!

I could kick myself that I ever sold it (although I had my reasons).

Re: What Does Everyone Think About The RG2027XVV

I had a RG2127X (Japan domestic edition of the RG2027x in a matte trans black finish) and it was pretty awesome. Seeing that the only difference really between the 2027x and the 2127x was the finish I could tell you that they're great guitars but there are some cons, mainly the sucky pickups(swapped my bridge pickup with a JB-7). Aside from that the only thing I had a beef with was the wire for the piezo which would sometimes make contact with the sustain block and somehow cause a ground loop. It's a problem that's easily fixed though.

If you can get one, go and get it.

It is an awesome guitar. It is the one guitar I sold that now regret selling, and I've sold an RG3120, a JPM P3, an S2020X, an RG1077XL, and a UV7BK. The only thing better would be the J Custom RG7CST IMHO.

Re: What Does Everyone Think About The RG2027XVV

I absolutely love my 2027xvv!!!!!!!!!!

It was the first Ibanez 7 i owned (and will probably never sell)so i'm a bit spoilt as far as the fact that there's no other Ibanez 7 that's going to get any better than this really.

Mine isn't mint as it has a few small lacquer chips around the back edge but the neck and everything else is immaculate and as i only paid £250 for it with an Ibanez MC hard case a few small cosmetic issues is nothing.
At least i don't have to worry about that first gut-wrenching ding that you have to deal with when you buy a brand-new guitar.

I agree that the pickups aren't the best but personally i prefer how they sound over the stock Dimarzio 'New7s' that come on the RG7620's.
I'll be swapping them out as soon as i've got some cash to spare though.

Hey 'luvuvibanez'!
How do you find those Lundgrens?
I love how they sound on the Messhuggah stuff but i haven't tried them myself yet.
I'm very tempted to go with a pair of Bareknuckles (the Warpig7,a super-powerful beast, for the bridge and maybe a MiracleMan7 in the neck) as they're awesome sounding pickups and they're slightly more affordable than the Lundgrens too.

A pair of Dimarzios (probably the Blaze's)are tempting too though as i could buy a pair of those from the U.S. for less than it would cost me for one Lundgren M7.

Anyway, i reckon the RG2027xvv is the best 7 Ibanez have ever produced.Everyone should own one!

1. What model of Dimarzio pickups did you install?

2. Do you also think that swapping out the pickups increases the value or decreases the value, since its such a rare guitar?

Re: What Does Everyone Think About The RG2027XVV

Probably one of the most interesting models from Ibanez, it's a shame they discontinued it so quickly but that's business I suppose

I'd love a 7 with piezo, only real contender is the Petrucci EBMM, but that's not exactly the most visually appealing guitar around.

It really depends on the condition of the guitar.
If it's Mint and the type of example that a collector would want to buy then i would imagine they'd prefer it 100% stock and it would decrease the value slightly if it wasn't 100% stock.
If it's going to be a player and it's in player condition then,as long as the pickups you fit are good quality,a buyer would probably prefer a nice set of Dimarzios or similar over the stock pickups, but it wouldn't increase the value necessarily.

If anyone buys a 2027 with stock pickups then as long as you keep the original pickups when you fit new pickups and supply them with the guitar when you sell it it's not going to affect the value in the slightest.

I didnt install them, they were in the RG when I bought it. Check out the Lundgren Site, do a google search or something, or if ya got a set of blazez sittin around I might be interested in a trade.
