What does that "Team j Craft" stamp actually mean?

I've always wondered this, since some of the Prestige models seem to have this, while others only have a serial on the back.

Obviously any RG Prestige is going to be made in the Fuijen factory... But how a lot of lower end models like the RG1570 only have a serial on the headstock while others like the RG2550 have the full "Team J Craft" serial.

Is there really any difference in quality? I've heard that the J craft ones are hand fretted among other things...but not from a credible source. I'd like to hear it from someone who actually knows about this.

My 1570 is TJC. You saw a fake!
TJC's have more quality craftmanship, made in Japan, Japanese hardwares

"team j-craft" is not a higher quality guitar than pre-TJC Japanese fuji built guitars. Like Rich said "it's marketing".

That's odd. Every 1570 I've seen has this.

While other more expensive ones have this.

I think you guys are right though. It's probably just a marketing ploy. If they are made in the same factory there can't by any real difference in quality.

Tell you what I will do for you. You get each one and have it sent to me. I will evaluate each one, write a detailed report for you, and keep them both. That way your questions will be answered totally. No need to thank me.

I dont know if it is marketing or not...
but comparing my RG1550FM (TJC 2004) neck with my RG550 (2000) neck, I see a better quality on the 1550 model.

dani,

the construction on those necks is different. different technique, different wood, probably a different profile. apples to oranges.

I also have a 1570 and it does have the tjc stamped on the back of the neck, and as dani said, I find that neck to have better fretwork than the pre prestige necks

Re: What does that "Team j Craft" stamp actually mean?

I find that my RG1570 which has the TJC stamp, is on par with older RG570's, personally. Certainly not any worse, but not noticeably better.
