What wood is this?

What wood is this?
I guess I could take the neck off?
Im trying to match up an Ibanez custom shop guitar to pickups.
I mistakenly took out humbuckers from hell that sounded absoutley perfect.
Turns out they were not rusty they were vintage I SOLD THE MOJO!!!

Re: What wood is this?

Hard to say with wood in this chipped state, and no end grain visible. And no idea of the guitar model.

The only clue would be the color : if that's the body, possibly alder? Might be maple too, but less likely. If it's a crappy body, balsa, but that would weight almost nothing.
Persimmon, aka white ebony ?

All far fetched attempts, only my 2 cents.

This site might help you. www.wood-database.com/ Even if the database seems to be offline right now...

Re: What wood is this?

Its a lower end custom shop, shielded the works, braided wire so not balsa wood.
Ill pop the neck off!
