What's generally considered the best Ibanez RG series for the money?

I play mostly blues / hard rock. Not really a shredder - but looking for a versatile guitar as another option to my strat and PRS. I really like the neck and sound of the RG2550 Prestige. But I'm wondering if I can get a similar feel / quality out of lower priced model. I had originally ordered another strat (Classic Player 60's) because I feel like I'm too old (mid 30's) for an RG series but now I'm having second thoughts.

My budget is around $800 but I'd like to spend less.

Get yourself any used 500 series RG, and see how you like it. The 550/570 is basically the same thing as the newer 1570/2550 and you can pick them up used for about $300. That way, if you decide it is not for you, then sell it and get your money back.

1570, 2570, or 2550; without question. You can probably save a few bucks buying used on the bay, but sometimes it's best to go new.

Another vote for the 1570 and 2550, both of which I have owned and used recently. Only regret is not buying one sooner

+1. Uses premium woods. Has quality fit and finish. Comes with a luxurious case! No other guitar brand that I know has a guitar of that caliber for the same price. Nobody!!!

I didn't know that MF's prices were negotiable. You talked them down? From $900.00 to $750.00? For a new one? With/free overnight shipping?

I'd say that's a damn good deal.

How'd you do that?

Edge Zero is a good bridge with great tuning stability, it lacks a little feel of old lo-pro edge but that's just personal preference

I asked because I have RG2550 but with Edge Pro, it's very nice guitar

How did you end up doing that? I want to know as well. I thought their prices are locked as is and this is the first time I've heard of someone negotiating a deal with musicians friend. I'm not calling you b.s. on this..but explain to us.
