"Cream of ibanez"? That sounds like a soup or something
I'd have to say the J Customs, especially the ones with vine inlays.

Re: what's the cream of ibanez
I have played a number of archtops from the mid to late 70's that were signed by Tamura and his protege/shop foreman/pupil Sugihara. They are beautiful things. Not quite among the worlds finest archtops (which all start at 20 grand anyway), but way up there. Everyone should get one while they are still easy enough to find.
I'm hoping the current J-Customs are the best, as I've just had a phone call saying mine has arrived today from Ishibashi

1993 AANJ Radius LTD.
OK, there are only like 2 people who'll agree with me but so? ;-)
WHY was there never a Radius J Custom so that the radiheads here could fight on the bay over them?

Re: what's the cream of ibanez
I dunno 'bout everyone else but I sure as hell love my RG8670, it's the cream of my
Ibanez collection
(Considering it's all Ibanez Customs and a UV it's saying quite a lot)

Totally agree with that. The RG8670 is an awesome guitar and along with the 7vwh is my favourite player.

Re: what's the cream of ibanez
The
neck thru
crowd would say the RG4 or 9670 was the cream, but for the bolt on crowd the 8670 fills the bill. Of course this is strickly speaking shread guitars. If you've ever picked up a JSM100 or a GB12 there are vastly different types of guitars that put just as much cream in your coffee

Re: what's the cream of ibanez
good call with the JSM (and former AS models). Those with the Benson are in a different league from the shredders... glen

Re: what's the cream of ibanez
You know, not that you heard it from me or anything, but I hear John isn't too up on the JSM's
He's a much bigger fan of the early AS-200's. He's got a '58 335 that he doesn't like either, so who knows!
The current Metheny's are also awesome, nicer by quite a bit than the earlier Korean ones.

Re: what's the cream of ibanez
HRG2000, IMHO. Then next would be JCRG4.
RG-ART, HRG2001 - I like these two, but for the bolt-on part of me.
