Which guitar???

Hi there,

Havent been playing for a few years now but want to play once again

I like to play: Metallica, Satriani, Vai, Pink Floyd but also Hendrix, Eagles, Guns n roses. My problem is that I found 4 guitars that fits my budget but which one should i choose??

Ibanez RG1570Z BK Black

Ibanez RG2550Z GK Galaxy Black

Ibanez RG920MQMZ RDT Red Desert

Ibanez JEM555 WH White

What should I go after? Its really important that the guitar stays in tune for most of the time and that its able to play various styles.

I have a RG2550z and it is a high quality guitar - it is a prestige MIJ model so it is higher quality, imho, than the Jem555 and the RG920 premium. The RG1570 is a prestige MIJ model as well so that is probably a very nice guitar too but I've never played one so I can't say much about it. In any case, if I were you I would go with one of the 2 MIJ prestige models.

Here is a recent NGD thread on the 1570...sounds like the owner is pretty happy with it...but I think the RG2550z is a sexier looking guitar ;o) I guess it also depends on your budget and which one you can get for a better price. I'm sure either one would be great.

Appreciate your thoughts. I called my local guitar dealer today and told him to fetch the two prestige models so I can try them. He also advised me not to buy the JEM 555 nor the RG920 (Like you said you pay for the design and not quality)
He would also buy the 2550z or 1570. He said despite the different pickups the difference wasn't that great ob the two guitars. I have no clue about different pickups - is there a site where the test them with audio trails?
Guess im gonna try em both and see :-)

I can't really comment on the difference with the pickups because I changed the pickups on my 2550z to Dimarzios as soon as I got it because I had some Dimarzios. But I'm sure the stock pickups will be fine.

Looking forward to you posting a NGD for your new baby when you get it!

I bought the 1750z (was a bit cheaper, so that I could buy a Boss BR-80 :-)

Now I need to setup the hight of the strings. they are a little to high. Any good tutorialt out there? Found a youtube video but I want to make sure not to ruin something :-)

Yeah,,,I've always liked that black 1570. I have two Prestige 1420F's, and I love them, so I would also second the recommendation for a MIJ RG prestige guitar. I immediately put a tone zone and air norton combo in these guitars, but a pickup swap isn't that big a deal.

I used to own a 1570 and currently own a 2550 white and to be honest there isn't much difference between them apart from the looks. If you can get to play both pick which one plays and feels the best to you.

Congrats. You will be fine with the 1570. Here you got most you need. Very useful reading.
