Which J-C is this?

Hi All,

I know this is a big ask considering that this my first post at all, but any help in identifying the model in the pics below would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for my first J-C (which, in Australia, is quite difficult), and came across this on ****. Even the owner (a guitar store) doesn't know which model it is.

The serial suggests that it was made in 2000, but none of the J-Cs on the specs section of Jemsite seem to match up in colour (not that i know which colour it is, just that none of the colours available on any of the 2000 J-Cs fit). Is the list on this website an exhaustive list, or were there also other made?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Thanks for the reply buddroyce.

That's what i was thinking initially, but on the specs page here at JS it says that the only colours made in '00 were DBK, DRD, AM. Is it possible that other colours were made?

Other colors could always have be made. I've seen RG1680s/RG1608's in colors that weren't in the jap catalogs. I'm pretty sure I've seen at least one other RG1680 in Twillight Blue.

Hey, don't know where you're looking, but I think Drum Music actually sell the odd J-Custom - not cheap (about $4500AUD), but they do occasionally bring them in.

It looks like a '99 RG1680 but in twilight blue. Maybe the '000083' signifies a ltd edition ???

Re: Which J-C is this?

I have had a few 1680s..... If I remember rightly they didn't have the binding like that on the body....

I might have a player JC back in the UK (a 1608 maybe... unless my friend has made it his own) I go back in a week or two.... if I still have it I'll bring it back and you can check it out!

Re: Which J-C is this?

There's no binding on that, just the exposed maple.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if it was a body/neck mismatch. Colour is Silky Blue (SBL) to my eye.

Looks similar to a RG1608 I had in SBL, but without the extra thick maple top . I'd probably ask the seller to pull the neck to see what it says in the pocket, but no matter what it says, it's not worth the asking price
