Which RG? Looking to buy tomorrow

Hey guys,

I'm looking for an RG- a beater guitar for me too get good at lead on.

I tried out an RG2550E and JemW7V. I bought a Jem but sold it as thought that it was an overpriced RG.

It seems like the extra money on the RGs goes on the appearance rather than pups and hardware.

So I was thinking about pulling the trigger on a RG2550E. I remember it actually having a nicer neck than the JEM when I tried both out.

Can anyone think of a prestige RG that has a decent floyd type bridge, EMG or IBZ pups with the *thinnest* neck possible (has to have AANJ). I have small hands and thats why I love Ibby necks.

Looking to pull the trigger tomorrow morning on this. Swaying towards an RG2550E unless someone can think of something with similar specs but thinner neck.

I have a 1570 which is basically the same guitar than the 2570 but with different pups, the quality is excellent so you can´t go wrong!

Seconded. I had a 1570 for a long time and loved it, super fast neck. Change the stock pups though, ew.

There are new colors coming out shortly unless you just have to have the current ones

True, the new white RG is nice, the 1570 suffers from a weird sparkly "mirage" finish.

"suffers"? lol, mirage colours are the only ones I like in the prestige range, that´s why I got it lol

I had the mirage red and it looked like disney made it or something, personal preference and all that, everyone seems to like the jem wh yet I think it looks tacky, whatever floats yah boat.

I also had a 1570 for a while and it was fantastic. It had a wonderful neck. I got rid of it because I hate the maintenance required on Edge Pro's. Yuck. But that's just me.

Either way, the 1570 with the Mirage Red is nice! Very cool looking. But yeah, the pickups were only ok. I wouldn't call them bad, because they weren't... but the Prestige RG's completely slay with a pickup upgrade.

However, if you want better aesthetics, and better pickups, then go with the 2550. Those guitars are badass for sure!

I also looked at the 2550, but I ended up getting a 1570 and changing the pickups.

They felt identical to me, but I chose the 1570, as I could put the exact pickups I want in it, and it still cost slightly less than the 2550.

Both are great value for money, but for me, the option of changing to my choice of pickups for around the same price made the 1570 the more attractive guitar. Don't get me wrong, the ibz's in the 2550 sound good, but I wanted a specific set of Duncans.

Plus, I like the mirage finish more than the galaxy black, and I don't like pickguards.

Pulled the trigger and ordered an RG2550E.

The stock pups are ok but will most likely be changed soon for some decent passives or EMGs.

Should be with me tomorrow hopefully. Thanks for all the replies.

Post some nice pics when you get a chance. I like the look of the ghost sharkfins better than the older verions but they are still too "metal" for me. I have always liked the galaxy black color though.
