Would you trade a RG-METAL-1 for this? (Help Gibson guys!)

I never play my RG-Metal cuz I'm tired of Wizard necks. I've always wanted a Les Paul but since I don't like rosewood fretboards it's been very hard for me to come by a model that I actually care for owning. There's a guy here in Italy (he's also a member of this forum) selling this:

http://www.tibiuccio.it/gibsLPstdLEsfs.htm

and I'm quite tempted to offer him my mint METAL in trade. Do you guys think it would be a wise move? I know most of you will say that my METAL is a keeper because she's so rare but I'm not a collector and I can't justify owning a guitar I don't play. I'm asking more from an economic point of view. I never had a Gibson so I'm not very up to date with how much they are suposed to sell for used and specially Limited edition models like this.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Fred

That les paul worth 2500$ in US or around 2000 € in Europe. Have you asked the guy for trade? He might not be interested.

Anyway if you don’t like wizard neck anymore try to play other guitars for awhile before you sell or trade RG-Metal. Then play again and you don’t want to trade it anymore.

Although that LP is beautiful, I don't think i'd trade the RG Metal for it.

If all you're bothered about is an ebony fretboard, I'd look elsewhere to be honest. This fascination with ebony baffles me, it doesn't look as nice as 'proper' rosewood and tone wise, well, rosewood wins hands down I'm afraid. Ever wondered why the Les Paul Std is more highly regarded by musicians than the LP Custom ? It's partly down to the rosewood board !

I'm not big into the rose wood vs ebony thing, but IMO thats not even that hot of LP. I like the color etc, but the top leaves something to be desired to make it worth a trade imo

Actually that LP does not look very good to me. There are several LP Standards out there that surpass this one. And if you do not like rosewood boards, you will dislike ebony aswell, as they sound very similar and IMHO rosewood wins in sound and feel.

That's a matter of tast. I prefer ebony. I've got several LP style guitars as well as one Gibson. I prefer the Ebony fretboards on my copies.

As for that standard, that's a decent looking standard but I can't really say how much your Ibanez is worth and how much a Gibson is worth overseas.

Rosewood though

Why not get a les paul custom? Ebony board and better build quality, plus I think you'd be getting a better deal. A limited edition RG for an LP standard doesn't seem like a very good deal to me

Yep, nice axe that LP, though I'd prefer it if it were more red than orange.

Lovin' the look of those tuners on a Gibson too

Ebony vs rosewood fretboards are a matter of taste. The sonic difference between the two, on otherwise identical guitars, is MINISCULE to say the least - and I much prefer the completely smooth, uniform and fast texture of ebony.

I'd trade for a LP, but not necessarily for THAT Les Paul. Play it before you make your decision.

I'd trade for the LP. The ebony board sustains better in my humble opinion and it sounds better, brighter and clearer sounding on a 24.3/4" scale guitar which the Gibson LP is of course. Some say the Rosewood is warmer, but I don't think so, there's a reason Gibson charges much more for the Ebony boards on Custom's.. ala Zakk Wylde, etc, ..

Gibson also puts ebony on $900 studios, its not a better wood, its just different
