I think they are nice guitars. Some guys don't like the pickups in them. For the price you are getting that's a pretty good deal. I think they are retailing over here for around the £899 mark.

I know where therse is an RG2570 Vital Gold going at a great price as well.

Item number 400070730298 on evilbay. £595 brand new with case and warranty.

I wouldn't buy one due to the Edge Zero tremolo. You can't even replace it with another trem due to the stud spacing.

I would recommend going for this. Edge Pro, Less Expensive etc.

Great guitars. Pickups are a bit rough but its worth getting one just for the Neck. Really comfortable to play on and lovely frets

Me neither, I think the RG2550Z is a great guitar but not quite as good as a RG2550 simply because I prefer the older trems.

Ironically I'd say the RG2550Z is not quite as good a guitar as the JS1000 you've just parted ways with, but if you're after 24 frets it's an excellent place to start.

I have the 2550E and it's really a nice guitar. I know most decry the DiMarzio/IBZ pups but if you give them a try, they're not really bad. Probably just the idea that all stock pickups have to be replaced, I guess. Far as the Zero on it, try and find one of the older ones like I have and get it with an Edge. You'll be much happier.

Re: Your opinion please, RG2550Z prestige

Thanks for the replies guys, i tried it today, and to be honest i hated it. Baring in mind they knew i was coming, the setup is pi55 poor and kept going out of tune.

I agree with you all about the z trem, years back i had a s470 with the zr trem, same problem, would never stay in tune, i play a lot of satch and evh and the trem is quite important in my playing.

My next axe must have a edge pro.

Ive also been considering the musciman axis (sorry for the swearword) but cant even find one to try :-(

Thanks for the replies though.....

You're more than free to hate the trem, but don't say it won't stay in tune [unless it wasn't setup, or the ZPS system was in it]. Setup free floating the trems stay in tune as well as any Lo Pro or Edge Pro [with locking studs]. Same with a ZR.

Hey Rich, obviously my lack of knowledge preceeds me :-)

I just have this distinct lack of confidence in buying new guitars today, no one is interested in setting these things up, how can they expect to sell such a guitar that plays so poorly??

Rich my budget is £600-700, i would like something with a maple neck, no z trem and no trs trem, got anything interesting?

The only still Edge Pro are either cheap, or expensive.

I've got a couple 1570 blems, unfortunately you couldn't file for the rebate.

Re: Your opinion please, RG2550Z prestige

I own a GW 2550Z by far one of my favorite guitars and trust me it stays in tune just fine w or w/o the zps sytem in it.

I did change out the PU's though im waiting on a new pickguard to go to a dual hum steup w/o the middle (gets in the way for my style)

Re: Your opinion please, RG2550Z prestige

i own a 2550z.

the trem stays in tune perfectly for me in ZPS mode. i don't run it in free float because i have a hard time keeping it level since you can't keep it level with the trem posts with 10s, it's lifted up a bit. i need to get some special higher gauge springs.

Re: Your opinion please, RG2550Z prestige

You guys saying your EZ's stay in tune with the ZPS in, I really wonder

1. If it's setup the way a ZPS is supposed to be
or
2. If you know what the problem is.

When you pull up on the bar, without pushing the bar past neutral, the strings return flat. Mostly, very flat. In fact I've had maybe 3 guitars that returned good enough to be considered OK with the ZPS in. Normal diving, returns in tune, dive after pullup, returns to tune, pullup - flat.

And I still have no idea how you can't run 10's on yours because I've setup many with 10's and there's still plenty of adjustment room on the springs. It should take 11's no problem. But, I do have the EGEN springs in stock now.

Re: Your opinion please, RG2550Z prestige

Mine is fine with 10's. I just chucked them on and gave the springs and little more tension and done. Still loads of adjustment room left. As for tuning, i could sit there all day pulling the trem right back and diving all the way down and it wont go out of tune
