10 gauge on JS 1200...Hmmmm

A couple weeks ago I put D'Addario 10's on my JS 1200 (trem blocked) instead of the usual 9's...Seems ok, but after getting the neck how I want it with a few truss rod tweaks, something about it just doesn't feel right...hard to put my finger on it. The feel is kind of "off" and the tone isn't drastically better... Is the JS 1200 meant to have 9's on it, or have any of you experienced this?

changing to 10's really should be no problem at all, but as you rightly say a Truss rod tweak may be in order.
Probably just that your not used to the feel of the bigger strings on your hand maybe?

I assume you also adjusted the trem springs?

My hands are pretty tough, and I'm pretty much conditioned with the heavier strings. Didn't adjust the trem springs either, as I didn't feel it was necessary with the trem blocked off, and I'm also installing a Tremol-No tomorrow...

Missed that, yeah if the trems blocked then no need as you say....

Maybe I should just be patient and give the 10's a shot for a little while longer....Hmmm

I have 10's on all my Guitars which include both a Universe & a Jem and have never had any problems.

I would give it some time before deciding to change back.

I used to put 10's on all of my guitar's until I got my rg2550. that thing NEEDS 9's! so now i have a few guitars with 10's and then this guy has 9-46, so the low strings are still heavier.

There really isn't a huge difference going from 9's to 10's. The tone will not change very much unless you go to 11's. Then you will hear a difference. IMO, JS's are meant to have 9's in them.

I run 10s on my RG, actually now I have 10.5-48s because I had to tune down to Eb for an audition.
