1998 Black Pearl JS1000?!? Really a 1999?? Rich, perhaps?

Hi, I'm a newby, but I've read through hours of your JS posts--they are educational and fascinating (I've saved quite a few questions & responses for future reference on Zip disks).

My question relates to an excellent condition Black Pearl JS 1000 that I recently acquired. The neck serial number (the real one according to Rich) is #F98 500xx ("X's" being other numbers of course), and the neck plate is #0060xx. Based on posts I've read, this means:

(1) My JS1000 is the "0060xx" Japanese JS made.
(2) My JS1000 was made in 1998 ("F98.....").
(3) My JS1000 was the "500xx" Ibanez made in 1998.

Am I right? If not, please correct me.

Problem is Ibanez did NOT make any Black Pearl JS1000's in 1998, just Black Pearl JS900's. However, my JS1000 is literally, totally, 100%, genuine, bona-fide, & completely a JS1000 (every single current 2002 JS1000 feature & spec in the book). There is absolutely no doubt mine is a JS1000.

My guess is that either the Neck was made in 1998 and mated to my Black Pearl JS1000 in 1999, or my entire Black Pearl JS1000 was made in late 1998 as a 1999 model (similar to what car makers do when they tool up in the fall for next year's production). So actually, despite what the neck serial number says, my JS1000 is actually a *1999* model.

Again, am I right?

Does anyone have any thoughts or comments? All would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Wow, thanks for the super quick reply Rich!! Now I know I have a *1998* JS1000, no questions asked.

What totally threw me for a loop was the data on the Ibanez JS web site--the catalog pages for 1998 and the 1998 model data web page are not accurate. Perhaps this is from the European catalogs since the webmaster is from Italy??

Your catalog scans on your IbanezRules.com site are simply AWESOME. I'm going to save each catalog on your site to my Zip disks along with all the other downloaded & saved web pages relating to cleaning & setting up a guitar. Why doesn't the Ibanez.com site have this, for crying out loud?

Although I'm grateful to the Ibanez JS site for turning me on to your site, I should have seen the "catalog" button on your web site FIRST. It would have saved me much consternation & gnashing of teeth!!!

I've learned so much from IbanezRules.com and Jemsite.com in just a few days I can't believe it. Thank you for your contributions in both.

Thanks again for your reply--it was greatly appreciated!

Yea, Pino's from Italy so probably refective what was available there. I've been promising to do a *real* JS Site [no offence to Pino] but life keeps getting in the way.
