Well, I'll tell you what I'm hoping to build in the near future:

JS body, but even 'curvier' and with an AANJ.
Chrome finish (mirrachrome paint), chrome hardware, chrome pickup covers.
ZR trem (with d-tuner)
Roland GK2A pickup
Straploks
Fernandez Sustainer
24 fret neck
Coil taps
maybe a blend pot instead of a toggle.

Hope this gives you some ideas!

if you can't even think of WHAT to mod the urge of changing it can't be that big

saTa i would have to say attempt a 24 fret mod but that's just me lol I can't stand guitars with 22 frets anymore =P To me it's the only thing that lets the js series down!

Failing that, try a sustainer mod Homemade possibly?

I think the only thing I would change in a JS are the inlays. I just can't stand the plain dots, they look so boring......

That's why the Js 90 is such a hot-looking guitar. Oh I almost forgot, an AANJ would also be cool.

Well, I have a radius, but close enough... It all depends on what you want. Do you like the JS for the neck, body, sound...? What would be better TO YOU if it were different?

What I did, or plan on doing:
1. If you want stratty sounds, a center single coil and 5 way switch might be an idea. I have a H-S-H with TWO 5 way switches and a push-pull pot on mine. Also, other pickups. I have a custom SK, a Stag Mag (soon to be another SK), and an HS-2 (soon to be a Duncan 1/4 pound) in mine.
2. AANJ, although the normal joint isn't bad. But this is costly, since you have to blend the new finished part in with the old finish. Anyone doing a refin should think about an AANJ, though. And once done, it's more ergonomic than even Ibanez's standard AANJ (less wood; maybe not as stable, but I've noticed no issues)
3. Kevan's Tremol-no, if it EVER comes out!
4. Replace the neck. I have a Carvin on mine - ebony fretboard, 1 11/16" wide at the nut. I just ordered a new Carvin with compound radius, stainless steel frets, and abalone block inlays.

I guess you can tell that the only thing I DO like about the JS/Radius is the body and the trem. But I like 'em SO much I've gone through a lot to keep 'em on my main axe!

You might wanna think about adding a center single coil, a sustainer, gold hardware, or a vine inlay.

i barely play in that high registers and thus don't need no 24 frets or AANJ... the plain dots suck, agreed but hey... my js90th doesn't have them :P

I knew it! I knew it!

Concerning mod ideas: Hardwire the high pass filter and hot rod your pickup switching with the free DPDT! That's what I did, and I'll never look back.

And, inspired by some old Jacksons, I'm now planning to cover the whole body with a yellow and black chessboard.. kinda crash-test-esque, lol.

On my JS1, I replaced the stock tuners with locking tuners. Not that this is really necessary (I still use the locking nut) but it speeds up the string change considerably.
