Brand new js1200 for £760
Bought a new JS1200 last week for £760 from Sound Control in Leeds. Its the first JS ive owned and my god its red hot to play. All I can here when I play it is the tone from Flying in a Blue Dream.
I already own a 440r with a fred and
paf pro
fitted but it sound totally differant to the 1200. The 440r does have the single fitted to the middle. I'll post some pictures of them both very soon.
I also have a Jem77BRMR, a Jem7BSB and a UV777PBK and I have to say for sheer tone the 1200 is the best. The neck is great, I was concearned about the smaller radius on the neck to start with but its not a problem at all.
This is one top guitar. A1.
Great price as well.

Re: Brand new js1200 for £760
It sounds different to your 440r probably because the 440r is an
Alder body
while the JS is in Basswood. Congrats on the axe though! If only I had the money to buy one...

Sorry to tell you but the body is basswood on the 440r as well. Check out the 1992 catalogue to confirm.

£760? Had the owner really pissed off one of his salesmen? That is a great price.

I thought it was a great price too. I only called in to have a look around as I was working in Leeds that day and had half an hour to spare. They had a 1200 and a 100TR. The salesman saw me interested and told me he could do it for a good price of £899. I thought its not a bad price but it didnt draw me in and left. I thought about it for a couple of days and was in Leeds a few days later and went in and an other sales man said he could it for £799. My god I thought they have come down £100 in two days, so i said £750 sounds better, he came back and said £760. Oh bollocks I thought its too good to a deal not to buy. So i did. And glad I did.
I wouldnt mine but I had no intrest in buying a guitar when I went in, just looking. Just goes to show you theres no halm in looking.

Oops, my mistake. Apparently my google search wasn't as successful as I thought. There's no 440r in 1992 though. The model for 92 was the 442r which btw is in Alder

Re: Brand new js1200 for £760
Heh! That sound control is only like 5 minutes away from my house, I've been in the one that used to be near the train station, but I presume it's moved now.
£760 is a GREAT deal.

Theres two in Leeds, one used to be near the train station, I think it was Whitehall Road, now its moved to Kirkstall Road. The other that I bought it from was on Roseville Road on the other side of Leeds. I bought a Boss GT8 from there as well last year for £234.

Ive justed looked at a the catalogues on ibanez rules and your right there about only showing a 442r, but I live in the UK and in the UK catalogue it show a 440r and 440rhh. I will scan the pages and show post them on this thread.
Its amazing the differances there is from country to country. I must admit I did not know about the 442r. Thanks its great to talk and share experiences.

Re: Brand new js1200 for £760
That's interesting indeed, but not surprised...the Brazilian website for Ibanez still had till not long ago the Jem77FP, while the american website haven't contained it for several years now. So yeah, there's always some difference between countries. Had I noticed you are in the UK, I would've made a search in an European catalogue, hehe. I love finding out about this stuff
What I can think that cause the difference in tone is probably just construction of the guitar and whatnot. The JS1200 does have a
PAF Joe
in the neck though, which sounds different from the PAF Pro.

Great deal !!! it just shows the margin retailers make. I'm sure they still covered their cost at £760
