I once read in a magazine that Joe describes the sound of his JS as "Somewhere between a Les Paul and a Telecaster.".

That was the whole idea for his signature guitar. Having played both LP's and Strats, Joe wanted a guitar that was close enough to have the best of both. When Ibanez came along and did the deal with Joe, he already had in mind what he wanted. Since its inception, Joe has been working with Ibanez to perfect the guitar (in his own vision), and now that he's claimed that him and Ibanez have pretty much perfected it, the 7 string JS that he's hinted about in a video interview as a new model next year could possibly be the JS 20th.

I think Ibanez is going to do something similar to what they did with Steve for this year's models. They are probably going to release 2 new JS's. One will be the 20th and there might be another 6 string to add to the JS series (different color maybe?).

That's what I think anyway.....

Re: Burnt transparent blue sound?

You said that before, about a JS7. Jimmy, I wouldn't get my hopes up, dude. Personally, I think the JS20th is going to be a golden six string. Or something along those lines. As for the new standard production model... I've lost hope for an interesting JS productiun model line, finish wise. In the 90s they had cool stuff, but it's been duller than dull for too long for me to think it's going to change.

Re: Burnt transparent blue sound?

Na it doesnt really effect the sound, the burns aren't very bad anyway, they're just lightly scortched to make the wood a different colour.

Its pretty light, maybe if the guitar was set on fire and left for a bit it would make the tone a little different, but im pretty sure these are just lightly blackened with a blow torch.

I dont notice any difference between my BTB and the others i've played and mine has quite a bit of burn on it.
