Re: Check this out!!!!!

For one, I think the JEM7VWH is way overpriced.
To buy one here would set me back 2500 euros ( might be up to 2800 )

that equals to about 3015 dollars!!! ( up to 3375 )

Dutch prices ARE really steep, I know that. Still it just puts the JEM in the "way overpriced" category. Even used the prices are insane.

I'm still a big fan of the JEM series though and acquired a 7pbk that needs a refret and has a rusty ( but perfectly working ) edge trem for 850 dollars.

Let's be honest, can a jem7vwh compete with a suhr or anderson ?

remember : I am a HUGE jem lover!

Probably just screwed by the dutch taxes.. I don't know :S

Last time i got a quote for a custom job, it was way over this figure. I was talking to a British guy about an 8-string custom and it came to around $3700 and upwards (just a random estimate, it was around £2000+). LGM are more or less double this guys $1200 and ESP... Well, they're not exactly cheap

As for his review on the Universe and BC Rich... Well that's utter bollocks as far as i can see. The guy didn't even look at one let alone listen to it and seems hellbent on sticking with cosmetic and luxery features. Talking about not having binding and such? Errr... The UV777BK does have binding?

And lets face it, Ibanez were the first to make a 7 (well, mass produced anyway) and in my opinion the best. B.C Rich is an alright brand, they're just no Universe when it comes to 7-strings. I'm also quite sure a BC Rich custom wouldn't be $1200
Carvin guitars are around $1200.

Isn't Indian Rosewood consired high-quality? Just take a look at Martin guitars. They use Indian Rosewood on their guitars (the $2000 D-28 and 000-28, mind you). I realise that Brazillian Rosewood is the most desirable kind, but isn't it hard to get due to it's availability? Also, isn't hardware made by Gotoh which is used on high-end instruments such as Sukop Basses and even the Fender Custom Shop? The guy must have the bridge mixed up with a Lo-TRS system instead.

I'd still prefer a JEM over a JS by the way.

Yes, but would you prefer to play a Carvin 7 over a Universe?
I know i would pick the Universe 9.9999recurring out of 10 times...

The shape is just more attractive.

All I can say is that some people need to buy a dictionary, and look up the meaning of two words- "opinion", and "fact".

But, of course if your an idiot that has his head shoved so far up his own ass that he's never seen the light of day, it still wouldn't help... That kind of person believes that his opinion IS a fact.

Re: Check this out!!!!!

More about the endorsers.....

Honestly, the first "Jem" I played was a Universe. The only reason I checked it out was because of Steve Vai, and I liked the guitar a whole lot more than I thought possible. I ended up buying my Marshall Major and the next time I had money to spend, I made an effort to play a 6 string Jem (as I don't really need 7 and if a 7 played that good....). Received word the local Guitar Center had a 7vwh so I went over to Albany, played numerous guitars but none could touch the 7vwh in tone or playability and I bought that.

So Steve Vai did have an effect for me buying my Jem, but he wasn't the selling point, other than doing an excellent job of designing the guitar

Oh and the person I took lessons from played it and immediately said it is without a doubt the easiest-to-play guitar he has ever played (and I later set the action even lower!)

I like Fender. Wouldn't shred on one, but as a utility axe they come in quite handy!

Agreed. My Fender strat is the only 6-string I own and I love it. I think every guitar player should have a strat in their arsenal.

Hell, I'd buy an RG1527 before a Carvin.

But to each his/her own I guess

Re: Check this out!!!!!

Funny... He says they play well and sound good.
I wonder what the hell you'd care about else?

Who cares about neckthru or not, which tuners are used, what bridge is on it if it plays well and sounds good?!
