Chrome Paint

Was farting around the net came across this, I know LGM does RC (i do to) So maybe he could give us a idea how this stuff is. If he's used it before. Makes me want to start a new project =) Chrome boy maybe.

That 727?? 737 looks pretty shiney but I dont think this suff could realy come that close to the mirrior like chrome boy. However, I would realy like to see how it looked, I might just concider doing something like that with my JS1000WH. looks very durable... maybe a working mans chromeboy, WITH the ability of a wooden body

dude,it's cool :-) ... if ya want to try it out...Gimme a shout,i can't live without my 7 string for long,but if it'll look better (less beaten up) then that'd be cool...Of course if it doe'snt work it needs finishing anyhow lol

Ok, I finally got ahold of them and heard back thismorning.

Here is the problems for guitar use.

1. Durability, it is not meant to be handled, it will wear quite fast

2. It needs to be sprayed over enamel, that is the worst possible paint to use on wood as it cracks worse than laquer.

3. it can't be clear coated with anything but water based clears or it will be affected. Water based clear is not very durable either.

Unfortunately, when looking for a cheap alternative to the real thing, generally all you end up with is something cheap

Lots of places in the US have it, but you can't ship laquer across the border without paying for dangerous goods and I'm not spending $5000 for a dangerous goods license for a 1oz bottle of paint LOL

Yup, it was direct from Alclad. And nowhere on that page did I read it was tough or durable. Here is the actual email I got from them.

Well poopee times 2. What if you mist the first clear coat to temper? Other then that, thats some cool stuff for RC and models. To bad to dont make it a little tuffer =p
