Curious question about recent evil-bay sale of Ibanez JS-4 Rainbow

Just curious...I was surprised to see a recent evil-bay sale of a Ibanez JS-4 (7420461293) go for the amount it went for. Even though it had some dings and change of pick-ups, I was thinking it would go for more because of past sales of the JS-5 forest guitar sell for way more.

Does anyone know why it went for the price? Was it a authentic JS-4 or do people crave the JS-5 more than the JS-4? Rich can you help with some of my questions? Thanks!

Re: Curious question about recent evil-bay sale of Ibanez JS-4 Rainbow

I'm surprised he reserved it that low, it probably still would have sold 500-1000 higher, or maybe not.

Condition had a lot to do with it. Collectors who will to spend like originality and as close to mint as possible. This one had neither. I've passed on it through 3 owners now because I have 5 clean ones and see no point in downgrading [although if Joan had painted it I would have bought it long ago]

Forests are more desirable than bows.

You're always helpful Rich. Thanks for replying. I thought he should have set a higher reserve.
I'm trying to learn about these custom JS guitars, because I love the graphics. Can you mention a little more about the originality. Are you saying that Joan did not paint that JS? Sorry if I misunderstood you...too much college studying. Thanks Rich.

Ehm, if it's the one I'm looking at right now in the completed **** listing, the thing is signed by Joan Satriani.

That makes about as much sense as Rembrandt signing his paintings with van Gogh......

They both painted rainbows, and the ones Carol painted she signed Joan. Sorry if that concept is beyond you.

Since Rembrandt lived 200 years before van Gogh, that doesn't even make sense.

You're right, it's beyond me. I look at this:

and while in your mind it may be logical as hell, in my mind, looking at it, I'd have no reason to even wonder if someone else but Joan painted that thing.

That would be because you're making casual observation without knowing the facts.

Re: Curious question about recent evil-bay sale of Ibanez JS-4 Rainbow

So I do know the facts. And those facts, that Carol painted guitars and signed them with Joan, just because that is a fact, should now make sense.
I get it. Like the reason the sun is hot, is because it's hot. Makes perfect sense. Boy, this Ibanez guru thing is growing on me, it's really easy this way.
