EMG's in a JS1000?

Has anyone ever done this, and can you preserve the coil tapping and high-pass filter? I'm interested in this, I'm looking for a thrashier sound, but I still love that guitar

I think some EMGs have the coil spliting option (EMG89?), but the 81, which you're probably looking at does not....No clue about the high-pass filter...

EMG's don't need the high pass filter, when you turn the volume knob down they claim "no to very little change in sound" when you roll the volume knob back. Only 1 model EMG has the coil splitting option.

For any preservation of the satch sound at all your best bet is an EMG 85, becasue they're the most PAF like pickup in EMG's humbucker Catalogue.

namely because of thier use of Alinco Magnets rather than ceramic, they give an older kind of sound, with heaps of output. If you turn your volume down you'll get similar settings to what you had previously.

Also, If you wish to preserve the single coil sounds your best bet would be and EMG 89. Which is bassically an 85 with the option to split coil.

When it is split it sounds Similar to an EMG SA, which is quite similar to strat pickups, but obviously with more gain and more punch.

If you go along that road you should be able to retain some of you're sound and also capture some of the metal Sound.
