Getting a Js?????

i have decided i want an ibanez JS but not sure what to get. but i know i don't want one of the ibanez's own trems. so do I

1, look for a second hand js1000
(would be nice but haven’t really got the £££)

2, get a Js100 with a lo-trs II, change the trem & pickups
(think it would be cheaper, and like the idea of messing around changing the trem, could also change neck for a js1000)

one more thing is there any difference between the bodies of a js1000 & 100???

thanks for any advice
Mick

Having owned both, I'd say that if you can swing it, the used JS is a better choice. Better trem, better pickups, etc. I think that it is just a fabulous guitar and you can usually find decent deals on them used.

With that said, I had a JS100 for a while that I actually was very pleased with for what it was. Maybe I was lucky, but it stayed in tune, played well and sounded good. But the 100 will probably be more of a hit or miss situation, so my advice to stick with the used JS1000 if you can still stands...

You should check out the radius series. Identical to the js body and play aweseme with a pickup change. They run about 300-400$

They play awesome STOCK. I actually prefer the F series DiMarzios to the Fred, and the flatter radius of the fretboard to the one on the JS.

I think the main reason you shouldn't look at the Radius is because they're all mine. I mean, I haven't figured out how I'm going to pay for them all, but eventually I'd like to have them all. You would just become competition for me.

But seriously, the necks are very different. I found myself not playing the JS neck very often even though I was comfortable on it. The JS100 is a waste. The body is very different than the JS. And the hand sanding is usually uneven and it alters the shape dramatically from one JS100 to another. There's always inconsistencies in a contoured guitar like that, but I can't get into the JS100's myself. Maybe because I'm more into the late '80s Radius shape than I am the JS shape.

So if you really want the JS1000 neck feel, you'll have to get a Japanese JS. The 100 will feel different, and the neck finish is very different.

Step one was selling me one of the bodies he had... Don't let Frank fool ya; he doesn't want to KEEP all the radii. He just wants to have owned them all at one time or other...
