Getting a JS in Europe - anyone like Rich?
Hi guys,
I'm trying to get a
JS1000
or 1200 for some time now, in
Europe
, and my problem is that either they are too expensive (compared to the US), are old, not in good shape , etc etc etc... the only place i think i would buy a guitar without holding it first would be Ibanezrules.. is there any European dealer in which you guys trust that much??
Actually I'm in the USA right now (Austin rocks!) and I'm really tempted on getting one here from Rich, but with the troubles of carrying things in airplanes these days I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle...

Re: Getting a JS in Europe - anyone like Rich?
It cost me $30 to ship my golf clubs to Florida last month [wasn't flying there direct]. All boxed up and padded like hell to protect them from UPS. It cost me $15 to bring them home in the cargo hold, no padding, just the cover on the bag.
What troubles?

Re: Getting a JS in Europe - anyone like Rich?
I'm taking a Continental flight from Austin to Newark and then another from Newark to Lisbon. I'm not sure about two things: the case and guitar are big and heavy (oddsized at least) so i'm not sure if they'll let me carry that in the cabin, and in case it has to go in the cargo hold, won't it be expensive?
Anyway, if you do read PM's, i can PM you about it (actually I'm in San Antonio now, great place also - never imagined Texas was this much fun eh eh)

Under 50 pounds it does not matter how big it is. It will cost you whatever that airline charges for a checked bag.

The only time you need a flight case is if you're actually touring and the guitar could be subjected to 1000's of flights, road crews, amps falling over, etc. The factory case is more than enough protection for any normal flight.

I guess if you are worried about scratching the case on the plane, you could put the case in its original carton box

Re: Getting a JS in Europe - anyone like Rich?
I took my precious '94 Lag Rockline from Switzerland as carry-on to the US in a gig bag. Not a scratch. They told me that even with a case it would be allowed.
Most airlines have regulations to consider guitars as carry-on. I checked that when I went to Japan recently (just in case G.A.S. would have kicked in), and JAL or ANA both had guitars as carry-on. Just check with your airline, give them a call maybe and make sure the guys at the airport KNOW about the regulation.
If you worry about the case - wrap it in some plastic wrap (provided at many airports) and check it in, plus buy a cheap gig bag at GuitarCenter for carry-on.
I'll have to bring my guitars back one by one when I go back to Europe in some years I figure lol.

That guitar costs a lot of bucks.
Just let Rich send you the guitar to europe.
I got mine from Rich and shipping cost me about 100 Euros. Rich padded the guitar case in lots of airbags, so it came totally protected. Case did not have any scratches and guitar was in perfect condition.
Will definatly order the next guitar from Rich...
