Gold at the end of the Rainbow - New Sister Comes Home
Well after 2 1/2 months from first contact, my new Rainbow has joined the fold. After about 5 minites checking it over I'm about as positive as can be that's it's one of the prototypes Joan painted. We've all seen the "Streak" which is the catalog Proto, this one is a blend of Streak and Production, but stylistically closer to production version. The final telling detail (besides the fact it's not dated) is Joan wrote "Hey Joe" on the back of it which of course isn't seen on any production version. I'll make the broad assumption that it was painted for Joe to see, and wouldn't be surprised if I find out the "Streak" also has this detail. Oh course Joe took the "Streak" leaving this one to find it's way to me.
It also has touches of purple and lavender which, I like! My favorite is still the one I have I believe Carol painted, but she sure makes a fine addition to the clan.

That's a spectacular guitar. Definately one of the best out there and, of the 4 of yours that I've seen photo's of now, that's my favourite.

Gold at the end of the Rainbow
Thanks guys, actually this was my Christmas present, just a little late. I passed on those 2 sweet UVMC's while waiting for this.
They're all my children, and as children, you can't just kick them out the door if they have crooked teeth and acne
Actually, this one has the worst clearcoat I've seen from the LA shop, thin. It was either the auto body painter they hired, or the guy before him and why he was replaced. If it was the auto body guy, they hired him from MAACO!! It might be the graphics fault though, lots of 'texture' underneath the clear. In the end, just seeing that "Hey Joe" on the back, priceless.

Thanks for sharing a picture of your new child with us.
How would you say the painting was done Rich ?
When I look at the Joan Satriani versions they look like they have been painted bright colours then black over the top which has been scraped off to reveal the colour behind.
I don't suppose you have any close up pics you'd be willing to share ?

I'll let you guys speculate that all you want, personally I won't say because I don't want those of the world who would make fakes or copies to know where to start. I will say this one has some techniques that baffle me right now, and I'm still not really sure how it was done.
