Re: Growing collection

Yes it's a japanese one !

The bridge on the 1600 is better for me : strings go thru the body, that adds a lot of sustain. And I can adjust each string's height, which is not possible on the 700.

But anyway, the two guitars are not exactly made for the same purpose !

The 1600 is basically a Superstrat with a fixed bridge, incredible sustain and tone definition.

The 700 is a rock machine, made for raw power rock'n'roll. It's not the same feeling at all.
The weight repartition is really different on these two JS (maybe because of the neck material), the tonal characteristics are also very far from each other.

Re: Growing collection

greatings from germany for your nice guitar
i also have a jap js700. i have change the pickups to dimarzios( same sound-no noise).change the knobs for better handling and rub the neck with steelwool .
now its a nice little rocker.
but soundwise no comparison to the js1600 or js6 !
have fun !

Re: Growing collection

Garrotte I think you and I have the same JS700 - other than the neck mod. I put the Dimarzio soapbar humbuckers in mine (really dig the Super Distortion in the bridge), and I too put chrome knobs. Interesting idea for the neck. For some reason I have a feeling I'll wind up selling my JS700 eventually. Just doesn't feel as good as my JS6 or other Ibanez guitars. Might have to try something out on the neck like you did.
