The cost of the paint or troubles with using it is not what I was talking about, nor what Rich or JB were talking about. It's just a different look. I see no reason to disagree with that when the pictures clearly indicate it to be different (not bad different, but different nonetheless).

OK, so I'm a bad photographer.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

GG's chromeboy looks a lot more matte than the real thing. It still looks cool but it's quite different. AndyT's guitar comes a lot closer, imo. But yeah, it doesn't look bad... It still looks cool.

Is this the "Killer chrome" paint?

It looks the same as mine, just not in my pictures. I did clear coat over it.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

All the "chrome" paint application are getting close, but not close enough.

It simply doesn't have the reflection that Rich talks about.

For "black" chrome applications it might work.....

I charge $445.00 for the paint job. If you want the clear coat added, it's an extra $150.00.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

The problem with using mirrachrome by Alsa is in the clearing AND using true black base coat for it to go over so it has deeper blacks. My guess is you just paint over a BP as a base coat, I know because I did as well about 6 years ago It looks great! Until you clear over it lol. Comes out looking pewter. Oh and you over paid, you can get it cheaper on fleabay 4 oz for $69. It doesnt take much to cover a guitar body and this stuff can go on using a airbrush but as I said the problem is in the clearing. You never see Alsa clear over their work in the video

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

Further proof that this is merely an optical illusion to mimic the look of real chrome (note that the pictures were taken from Alsa's own webpage, and they were shot with decent photo equipment):

you can clearly see how dull and faded the finished product looks and it makes it look like brushed chromed as opposed to the real thing. Here's another example:

i have just receive the guitar !
and to bring the discusion to an end :
the work from guitar guru is perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and it looks NOT like the real chromboy ! the shinefactor is ca 70-80% ! and the colour is darker- maybe you call it blackchrome or darkchrome !
but thats NOT the point ! i want a "chrome" guitar with a finish that will last over the time of playing - and not like my two real chromboys- the first lost the chrom after a month- and the second one never leave the case because the chrom was off before playing a note !
i am a happy bunny now ! thanks rick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

Can you post a pick of the GG next to the real chromeboys? I don't really care about the debate, just like looking at pretty guitars
