Well thats good that you like it and thats all that matters. I do think you way over paid for it.
For $594 I would have made him strip the guitar and spray a true black base coat, give him a bit more labor then just blasting a few oz of MirraChrome and a few blasts of SpeedClear. But thats me.

*thinks he needs to setup a shop*

the work from guitar guru is perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and it looks NOT like the real chromboy ! the shinefactor is ca 70-80% ! and the colour is darker- maybe you call it blackchrome or darkchrome !
but thats NOT the point ! i want a "chrome" guitar with a finish that will last over the time of playing - and not like my two real chromboys- the first lost the chrom after a month- and the second one never leave the case because the chrom was off before playing a note !
i am a happy bunny now ! thanks rick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, I did sand down the guitar and spray it black, then had to clear coat it, then buff it out. After that is totally perfect, then the Chrome goes on, then clear again. Then buff it out again. So I don't know what you're talking about, and the material costs alone are high.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

Part of the problem here is the first image (as the comment says) looks a bit like a burnt blue JS painted with chrome over the top, such that you can *see the blue* through the chrome.
I reallise this is not the case, in fact looking at the reflections in the knobs in the pic it looks like you were standing in front of something blue (maybe the sky through a window!) as you took the picture.
This has given the whole guitar a blue colouration which has reduced the contrast one expects to see in a chrome finish.
From what you've said is required to produce the finish, sanding, black base, clear, polish, chrome coat, clear and polish. (phew!) In my experience simpler paint jobs cost over £400 ($666 or 444 euro) so I'd say it seems a good price, even if the result is not the mirror-like finish of the chromeboys.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

Damn...bet GG never expected this reaction. I think it looks good.

I personally don't see where people are getting this blue stuff from.

They just look like normal reflections in the body.

Does it look as reflective as a chromeboy? I don't think so...but I still think it looks good.

Thanks. I never said it would look the exact same as a real chrome boy either, just kick ass quality paint that will last.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

I can get it cheaper and the guy does it with real chrome. I also think that the base coat should be white instead of black and it would probably yield better results.

Re: Guitar Guru Chrome Boy

i reckon guitar guru's looks cooler than the real JS chrome. the reflective chrome looks tacky to me, i like this "matte" chrome.
