Hate my js1200
It sounds very good but in short, it plays horribly. The strings feel stiff like you don't even get a grip on them. They feel like they will immediately stop vibrating the second you let them go (but they do sustain). The strings don't feel nearly as elastic as my old jackson dkmg. I also get horrible
fret buzz
on the high e string even with high action. I just got the guitar, I don't know what to do.

Re: Hate my js1200
you need a setup in the worst way possible. if it sounds good now it will sound even better when setup properly

Tell you what, ill take it off your hands for free, just so you dont suffer anymore!
nah seriously, if you dont want to work on it yourself (its not that hard), have a pro set it up, someone who knows his way around Ibanez's trems, not just anybody
good luck!

Sounds like you need a number of different things adjusted. Trust me that JS is an awesome ax. Find yourself a guy who knows what he's doing as far setup is concerned. There's gotta be a shop somewhere near you that can do that sorta thing. A well spent 10 bucks or so will get you a bad ass setup.

10 bucks!? Where do you live?
I think it's about $40-$75 where I live for a setup on a
Floyd Rose guitar
.

Re: Hate my js1200
I paid $100 for my setup... well worth the money. Since then, NO problems changing strings/getting it to sound/play happy

if you folow the tutorial for a set-up on Ibanez Rules (link at the top of this page), you will be amazed at how this guitar can be an instrument rather than just a "guitar". i've been tackling fret polishes and other general maintenance on about two guitars a day (i have close to 20 guitars) and following Rich's tech pages to get everything just right. the only difficulty i've had is intonation. which is a frustrating point for me since it is such an important issue.
if you get a pro that knows
Ibanez guitars
- it is easily in the $80 range which should include most of the stuff Rich lists on his site that he performs on ALL the guitars he sells. it is well spent money if you get the right person to do the set-up. Rich is really the benchmark for Ibanez set-ups and maintenance. all hail King Rich! ; )

you are probably not getting the full set up. check out Rich's list of what he performs in his set ups. usually a string change and a quick wipe down is about all you get - you won't get fret polishing (takes at least 30 to 40 minutes if you're quick) and neck oiled, no intonation set, no
neck shim
or nut shim, no
locking stud mod
(if you're buying one from him it includes this) and probably none of the fine detail oriented stuff that Rich does for the $25. if you know someone that does ALL the stuff Rich does and DOES it RIGHT - let me know - i would be happy to keep that person busy for a couple weeks and pay shipping to get that kind of service for that price.
here in G'ville $80 won't give you as thorough of a set up as Rich but it would still be a very good set up. problem is that rarely will you find someone that knows Ibanez guitars as well as Rich. learn to do as much as you can yourself and you'll be saving a lot of money. i find it kinda fun to work on my guitars myself.
could i toot a horn for Rich's services any louder? ; )
everything he sells gets his personal touch to transform a mere guitar into an instrument - just goto his website and browse around, you'll see what i mean.
