Re: I am contributing to the "Great JS6 Influx"

nice score. i've seen some of the mint ones go from anywhere from $800 - $1200 on ****. you could probably get about $600 - $700 i would imagine.

i've got 2 of them and use one strictly for recording. i used to be scared to take them anywhere, but once they came out with the js1600, my prayers were answered. that guitar sounds and plays just as good as my js6s, but has the benefit of planet waves locking tuners. anyway, excellent score and i'd keep it if i were you

Nice score!

You're right about the flood of JS6/6000/1600 threads here lately. Everybody is in a mahogany/hardtail mood I guess.

When I bought mine, the original knobs had been replaced with the knurled chrome just like those on a regular JS. I got a hold of Rich and he hooked me up with a set of the original plastic vol and tone knobs. Thanks Rich. I love mine. Super low action and great sustain.

maybe that was a js6000? if i remember correctly, the only difference between the js6000 and the js6s were those volume and tone knobs.

Nope, it's a 6th. The original owner I bought it from had replaced the plastic knobs for the knurled metal ones. They are easier to use on the fly. When I bought it, he could not find the originals so I bought a set from Rich. It has no inlay at the 22nd fret as the 6000 does and it has the chrome hardware found on the 6th.

The urgency came from the price tag. $350 with brand new gator case. I couldn't believe my eyes and I wasn't about to let this one pass me by. It has the typical worming, mostly on the lower edge, and a couple of small bruises on the back of the headstock. The worst damage consists of three "scratches" on the back. There are a few of them, about 3 to 3 1/2 inches long which wouldn’t be much of a problem except they are 1/16th to 1/8th inch deep... OUCH! I plan on filling them in just to minimize the appearance. It is also missing the retainer bar and one of the black saddle springs has been replaced with a silver one.

My wife thinks I am going to re-sell it. Which I might after I get it looking as good as possible. It plays and sounds excellent! No fret wear. The neck is straight and perfect. The hardware is clean. It is LIGHT! I couldn't belive it was made out of mahogany. I am taking it to my luthier tomorrow to see if he has any bright ideas for restoration.

I will be taking pictures soon.

BTW, I have never seen so much chatter about JS6/6000 in this forum.
Great find, man! It looks great. I bought mine for more money than you, and its looks like poop. One of my threads is out there with pics, contributing to the oversaturated state of JS6 threads.

I went and saw the progress yesterday. He has it filled in and is starting the coloration process. He has been working on it in his spare time. It has been there for over 4 weeks but he has such a back log of repair work I am lucky to have this much done so far. I am starting to get ansy. The longer I go without having this guitar to play the more I am thinking I want to keep it.
