Ibanez 542R

I have a line on a blue 542R for $300 with no hardshell case. It has a few dings.
Is this a good deal?

Re: Ibanez 542R

Pretty rare.Keep in mind that the neck is not a wizard, but similar to the viper or petrucci.Pretty comfortable. It also has factory locking tuners. The one I had, had 3 single space humbuckers(like hotrails) and a strat like trem.It was pretty cool.I recently traded it in.Might be the same one! Light blue. The price is probably fair, considering its a pretty unique item.

Yeah! Its located in Burnsville, MN. It probably is yours!
Was this it?

Also, could you tell me some more about it? Like the extent of the damage? Apparently it has a big ding on the side? How big?

Re: Ibanez 542R

Thats it.Its definitely in player condition,I was going to swirl it but have too many other projects. If I remember it was a fairly good size-maybe 1/2 to 1 inch impact on the edge, like it was dropped. It setup and played pretty well. The stock pickups sounded okay.I would have changed the bridge to a little higher output one. When I got it,it was filthy.I cleaned and oiled the board, steel wooled the frets etc. They had a rgt320 that I wanted so I offloaded all my project(pawnshop) guitars to get it.Less work, more playtime.I was real surprised it had factory locking tuners.I'm almost tempted to buy it back but I have 14 guitars now and thinking I have about 10 too many!

Re: Ibanez 542R

I'd get it if I was you, that price is an absolute steal as well.

And for a s-s-s layout Ibanez, I say go for it!
