Ibanez ChromeBoy imperfection
Hi folks!
I have an
Ibanez ChromeBoy
(
JS10th
), and the guitar as a mark on the body. Ive attached pictures of it. Its strange because its inside the finish coat!
When passing a finger in it, it doesnt have any roughness. And when changing the angle of it, it almost disappears. I really donīt mind this flaw in the chrome. Its still the best guitar i have ever played
If anyone as encountered something like this, or have any idea what can, or have cause this, please post.
I can send more pictures if asked.
Regards

Looks like a manufacturer defect, and possibly sold as a factory 2nd.
Not much you can do, short of a refinish.

The silver under the clear has moved.
those guitars had issues at first what i heard.
i had a guitar do that , it was black and i had it near some paint thinner in a refrigerator in the shed waiting for a neck and i guess it pulled up but not in the clear coat.

A finish flaw that only apear after 14 years is somewhat unusual. I would love to ear from other JS 10 Th users cause Haipong Chrome is #143 and mine is #142. If it is a finish flaw my guitar can be next...
Regards.

He made no mention of it not being there when he bought it, how long he's had it, etc. Just going by the info posted......

Hey!
Yes, i didn't mentioned that when i bought the guitar it had no mark on the body. Just the regular runny chrome inside, that is normal in all these guitars.
I donīt believe that any of the 507 guitars are 100% perfect. There is always a minor "glitch" or "spill" on the chrome. Nothing compared with the flaw on the one i own of course, but there always something.
Regards

Not that it really matters now, but where in this post does it say it wasn't like that when you got it?

Hi!
These guitars were bought back in 1998 when they came off. They were aquired brand new in our local music shop throughout the portuguese oficial Ibanez distributor at the time (Custódio Cardoso Pereira).
I have also bought, at the same time, a JS 90 Th and a JS 1000 WH.
Check this link for some photos.

Re: Ibanez ChromeBoy imperfection
Unfortunately, I don't think anything candvbe done....short of a refinish.
It's odd for certain, but maybe something to do with the chrome reacting to the sunlight or a chemical reaction over the years......a mystery for sure.

Re: Ibanez ChromeBoy imperfection
I wouldn't attempt to refinish that guitar, it'll never be the same. There's only one person in the US that has chromed guitars and they look somewhat decent and that is Coat of Chrome. Although I've never seen a Coat of Chrome guitar in person, the pictures look decent.
Play that 10th and don't worry about that imperfection. If it bothers you that much, hit me up and I'll buy it from you.

Hey!
I really donīt mind at all the imperfection! The ChromeBoy sounds like a wild beast. Ill never get tired of it.
It would be nice if Ibanez give it a shot in a fourth attempt on the Chromes! Who knows in the twenty-fifth anniversary of JS
Cheers

Can you post hi-res pictures of the JS-10th? I'd like to take a better look at that imperfection.

Re: Ibanez ChromeBoy imperfection
I have three coat of chrome guitars. They are great, but in direct light they don't look like the true chromes. However, I love them because I play them with no fear and they are wood on the inside.
