Ibanez JS-7 or better JS-1700

I'm in the process of building my own JS-7, and I need some imput of what pick-ups to use. I see that dimarzio doesn't make a 7 string version of the PaF Pro and Fred pickups?

What is Joe using in his 7 string?

I don't know what Joe uses, but the Paf 7 Could work for the neck. At the Bridge i would try a Tone Zone7 or Air Norton7, for more Output an Evo 7 could do the work

DiMarzio won't make customs for the general public.

What about getting the specs of the pickups you want and seeing if Seymour Duncan will make them (without telling them you're wanting copies of DiMarzio pickups of course)?

If Dimarzio can make 6 string Paf Pro and Fred version, then they also could make a 7 string version. It's just a matter of getting through to right person within company.

They could and do for Satch as far as I know. But they won't for the average customer from what I hear.

I would at least call and ask, just try and stay away from the word "custom" a lot when you talk to them. Just ask something like "I was wondering if you can make a 7 string version of your Fred and Paf Pro pickups" or something like that. If they say no, then they say no. At least you tried.

I've always learned that no is just the beginning towards a yes.
