JS 100 / 1200 restoration

I bought a (once) white JS1200 from an old friend for £150, it is in dire need of restoration.. the paint is all tobacco stained and the bridge is rusty and bubbled.
But now i have the chance to buy, what i believe to be, a JS100 body for a mere £10 (which even if it isnt a genuine JS body, is close and at a damn good good price lol). It is in translucent red but lacking everything else.
I will upload pics as soon as i can get a decent camera.

Could i upgrade the 100 body into a 1200? ... or possibly just upgrade it in general? ... any opinions on choice of colour scheme and pups etc would be greatly appreciated :-D

To my knowledge, there was never a white 1200. There was a white 1000. I wouldn't call swapping in a 100 body an upgrade. Even if they fit, I don't believe the wood used on the 1000 is the same caliber as on the 1000's. I'd clean the 1000 a little or refinish it before swapping bodies to a 100.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I dont think i could ever swap the body, i will just repaint it. You are correct about it being a 1000, that was my error.
Just not sure wether i should buy replacement JS100 harware/pups, or if i should find a way to upgrade the 100 :-S

How much do you want to spend and do you plan to keep the guitar?

IMHO, Since you are basically building from the ground up, you should put in better hardware and pups than the stock JS100 parts -- especially if you plan to keep and play it. (Assuming you are willing to invest the money for the better parts.) A trans-red JS100 will never look like a JS1200, but it will get the general idea and could make a nice player. Just be aware that you won't get your money back out of the upgrades if you try to sell it later -- it should be worth some more than a stock used JS100, but not much. If you want to fix up the guitar and sell it off again, I would not invest in the upgraded hardware. (If you want to just sell it, you should probably just sell it as is and save the trouble.)
