Question

js 1200ca saddles

I got a used js1200 ca and noticed the low and high E string saddles sit a bit lower than the rest. This makes an uneven level for the strings. I see the plate that goes under the A,D,G,and B strings. No way to adjust height. Are all the saddles the same dimension or are they out of order? The low E especially is too close to the fretboard. Thanks Mike

Re: js 1200ca saddles

You really need to set the intonation first, then dial both the e's to exactly 2mm and measure the action on each string precisely.

Question

Re: js 1200ca saddles

The intonation is fine. However the E saddles sit lower than the others. Moving them forward is not going to make up the difference in height. any other suggestions. Thanks Mike

Re: js 1200ca saddles

If you haven't intonated it then the intonation is not fine, and it must be done first because the bridge radius will change as you move the saddles. Then use saddle shims to correct the radius.

Question

Re: js 1200ca saddles

Thanks. Do shims come with the guitar? Why does the plate underneath the saddles not go under the E strings? Thanks again. Mike

Re: js 1200ca saddles

The center saddles are shimmed to turn a 430mm radius baseplate into a 250mm radius. There are no shims included. You can make them out of soda cans, or i have them made in 4 thicknesses.

Thumbs up

Re: js 1200ca saddles

Rich that was informative. I wish the ibanez manual had that same information. So if I am understanding correctly. There is a curvature and not just a straight line when looking at the strings from the side. Thanks for the help. Mike
