JS-3 "Pink Donnie"
Howdy all,
I'm in a torturous mood, and I wanted to see how much I could hurt
myself online. Heh, in otherwords, how much approximately would my
JS-3 Pink Donnie be worth today?
I sold it a few years ago when I really needed money for medical bills,
and it was almost impossible to sell then. I've been told that it would be
worth much more now...but I'm curious how much.

I really wouldn't classify that as pink, it's definately a 90 and one of the early multi color Donnies. I'm sure it would bring multiples today of what you sold it for.

I had one and did the same thing...sold it.
I don't regret selling it for monetary value. I regret selling it because I simply loved that guitar. Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Mine was terrible. It played terrible, it felt terrible, the wood was seperating
where the
truss rod
was installed. The fretboard was not smooth. I was
sorely dissapointed in it. And not that it really bothered me, but my mom
would say "you paid how much for that PINK guitar".
It was VERY pink.
I'm now looking to buy a JS-6. I'm *VERY* serious about it. The only thing
I liked about my Donnie was that it had decent tone. I just wished it was
a bit "fatter". I think the JS-6 should bring me closer to what I wanted
originally. And I do miss the coil taps with cap cut. That sounded nice on
clean tapping.
Anyone have any leads on a JS-6 or something else I might like?

I don't deny it had pink in the spectrum, but I consider Pinks to be like Iggy Pop's Pink which is just pure pink and white.

Hehe, I found this link in the forum:
http://jemsite.insomnia-vhosting.com...cat/js_90a.jpg
I still have that Ibanez booklet that scan came from, and every
guitar mag
that joe was in from that era.
I wonder if those are worth something.
Damn I'm getting madder at myself about the Donnie.

It's your thread, bomb away
Yup, yours is definately now owned by Ken Holmes, bought at Guitar Center in Chicago years ago.

Truly a gorgeous guitar
If you still had it I'd offer to trade my JS-6 for it
It's definately one of the pinkest donnies I've seen after Joe's "Pink-Donnie" on his website.
I'm sure Mr. Holmes appreciates his/your JS-3 greatly. Otherwise Rich would have bought it off him ages ago.
Reminds me of the scene in the movie "Men in Black"
"You can have my 'Donnie' when you pry it from my cold dead fingers" To which the answer is...
"Your proposal is acceptable"
Not saying Rich is the violent type but...

I hope Ken likes the way the rosewood trussrod insert is seperating from
the
maple neck
(splitting at the seams), and the resonation is rather
lame....
But Ken, whoever you are, I hope you enjoy my Donnie. I miss it for what
it is...not how it played..LOL
Right now I'm talking with a guy who's got three JS-1000s up on EBAY, I
might take one or two off of him and paint them myself (not like a Donnie,
that would lame...I'd do something original).
But I'm still looking for a JS-6 if anyone has one...(sigh)
At least my guitar has a good home.
Now I have some closure.

I too sold my Donnie a few years back...and it now resides in the collection of Mr. Harris
There are times that I regret it, but...they pass pretty quickly. I liked LOOKING at it, but I wasn't overly thrilled with the feel of that particular guitar, which is why I sold it (to pick up a '64 Strat, by the way!) At least it's gone to a great home though!

Non of us ever hope for anything like that, I hope the owner takes care and gets lots of enjoyment out of it....if repairs were needed then hopefully they have been performed.
