JS 6, 6000 - what's the diff? - what have we here?

I had inquired about JS6 used prices and am wondering if what my bandmate just bought was a 6 or something different. This is a hard tail model with a strat-style bridge that strings through the body. The inlay is a series of shell dots and it says "JS CUSTOM" at the 21st fret position. The pickups are DiMarzios(H-H) with a 3-way toggle and one volume and one tone control that are both push-pull. The guitar is made in Japan with the serial # on the neckplate. The color is trans red showing a Mahogany body and the neck is maple with a rosewood board. All hardware is Cosmo Black. The finish is a standard clear and not the oil finish. What have we got here? Thanks.

The 94' JS6000TR that was on ****? I thought about it but I have this policy of not handling guitars with fretboard "plaques", the 90th's being the ONLY exception.

Yes, that is in fact the one. He wanted a JS but doesn't dig the Edge so this looked to be the best option. Any opinion on the price? It went for $485 before shipping - it seems alot of folks pay that much for the JS100 and I have to think the 6000 has the typical Japanese build quality. There is another hard-tail version on E-bay right now with a different bridge setup but I think I can make out a big C in front of the serial #. I just bought a 542R that I really like, although I paid too much for that one. I sure like the Radius/Satriani body -the most comfy ever for my tastes.

Good guitar, good price, in the end all that matters is he's happy with it. The other you're looking at is a 700 made in Korea.

I found the JS site after the fact and got some info there about all the models. The other one I saw on E-bay was a JS600 - the bridge threw me a little as I had only seen the wraparound style of the 700. The internet is an awesome tool, but I need to "virtual shop" less and play more. Thanks for your help. I hope he hates it so I can swoop in(he's really a Jackson kinda guy anyway).
