JS-custom get a sustainiac!

They said it couldnt be done!

but I have installed a sustainiac into a JS with no additional body modifications! The coil-tap push-pull now switches the sustainer on and off and when the sustainer is on the three way switch funcitons to select between the different sustainer modes! When the sustainer is off the switch funcitons as a normal JS-style switch... I always use the High-pass on my JS's so I hardwired that in..

Having that extra 1.3 cm between the neck and bridge pickups over a Jem makes the sustainer work so much better in my opinion (comparing to my old VSBL sustainiac)...

Nice but is that yet another 90 HAM model that has been lost?

Yep, and he was proud of the lame paint job he did too.

Re: JS-custom get a sustainiac!

he he.... every time I have posted pics of this guitar people think I modded a 90th...

True its a 90th Neck... but I bought that from someone else who parted out a 90th for their own reasons... the body is a badly cracked and bruised JS1000wh body .... you can still see the white paint in the cavity cover recess...

will try to post some clips... but they might be a long time coming

Send the body to SCS and get it redone in the same white color and that would look better. Or better yet, ask Patrick to paint the original chameleon colors of the 90th.

If thats what I wanted then thats what I would have done... but it still wouldnt have been a 90th....

Personally I love it my band loves it and the audience loves it... Its clear you dont ... you've made your point...

The paintjob was done by his girlfriend. If my gf could paint me a guitar like that, I'd rather have that than any custom job. I think it's sweet...

Extra cool! Good work.

I like the finish too - actually I'm GLAD you didn't fake up a JS 90th! Good on yer, as we say here.....

That's really sweet! I mean it, that's great! You don't do anything to that paint, lad! Aww, I get all emotional. Gotta call my girlfriend and check if she wants to repaint my Jem7rb.. Oh wait, maybe not, but I'll buy a cheapo that she can paint, I got real jealous!

EDIT: Yes I'm serious, I think it was super cute!

Does the trem arm get in the way when the volume pot is pulled out?

Nice job btw...

Re: JS-custom get a sustainiac!

Hey folks,

thanks for the comments!!

The sustainiac on/off switch is the tone pot so that it doesnt get in the way of picking or the trem bar...

Dan is correct... he's one of the few forumites whos played this guitar... my girlfriend painted it for my birthday 2 (or possibly 3) years ago after I repaired and stabilied the cracks in the body...

I had a 7VSBL with a sustainiac for about 2 years but I didnt like having the two extra switches... plus a Jems neck and bridge pickps are only 9cm apart (from centre to centre)... a JS is 10.3cm and the bigger the distance the better the sustainer is supposed to work... I didnt think it would make too much difference.. but it really does... it kicks in faster and harder then the jem did!

As far as the finish goes... the idea was to go for an an abstract-autumn-sunset, oil-on-canvas piece of art ... so you would see the brush strokes and textures you get from oil painting ... but like a swirl I didnt want anything recognisable so that you see what you want to see... leaves.. fire flowers... the sun... etc etc

Here she is with the rest of her Ibanez kin back in March.. apart from the two plain looking piezo's you can see I quite like guitars with unusual finishes !
