JS Fret height?

What's the normal fret height on the JS necks? A friend was checking out my JS700 and thinks I need a fret job and that's why I can't adjust the neck to my liking. I'm just wondering how high over the fingerboard the normal frets go.

Thoughts?

No offense, but is that a serious answer? Seems like a very odd number. And much smaller than I'd suspect. But I've never measured.

Re: JS Fret height?

Yes that's a serious answer. It's measured directly with calipers all over the fretboard of a new JS1000. Depends on the fret levelling job of course. That's actually considered a "high" fret. They are 6105 frets ... so you can look up the exact numbers if you want. It's pretty close to the Stew-Mac #0155 fret wire.

Thanks for the assist! I've no calipers at the moment, but I should be able to borrow some.

No need to go to the trouble of borrowing callipers. The JS 1000 is fretted with 6105 "jumbo" frets. No need to measure them or doubt the seriousness of Ryanb's answer..it's a fact!

Re: JS Fret height?

I meant to see if my used guitar needs a fret job. I'm not doubting the stock fret height. Just my current fret height. I want the action a bit higher than it is currently. I think I'll just take my JS700 and my bass in for setups at the same time. There's a guy down the street a bit with a killer reputation for repairs and setups and such.
