Re: JS1 Christmas Surprise!!!

Here are the minor issues with the guitar..
-It needs a fret job bad, I mean bad. Lots of wear and low spots but sounds incredible.
-2 major dings on back, about the size of dimes. No fixing these without refinish
-Lots of very minor paint scrapes around the edge of the body, some are worse than others but none are bad for a 15 year old guitar.
-This is the one that saddens me most, someone doweled the strap pin on the horn, and then applied crazy glue to fix or set a chip. The glue got on the strap felt which is now hard as a rock and stuck to the finish chip repair!!!!argh! Any ideas?
-The trem is pitted and corrroded pretty bad, I'm going to clean it today.

The good news.
-The finish is spectacular!!!!!!!!! Much better color than JS1200. That deeep of a red but with no metal flake. Think ferrari red
-The sound!!!!!!!! I have a JSX head and with this guitar.....I am Satch (I wish!). It sounds great, Trust me.
-The neck is flamed and is a 9 out of 10 besides the impending fret job.

I have enjoyed reading this thread and really dig all the cool comments and questions. If you guys have any ideas or thoughts about where to go with this next, throw them at me.

WOW!!!!

Looks very nice Jim. A nice cleanup job and a few cosmetic parts like new screws, the pickup rings and the string tree along with a nice wax job would make this thing look quite newish. Love the shade of red, so much different than the 1200.

Finger nail polish remover will remove the super glue, but I don't know if it will harm the finish.

Inferno Red had gold pearl in it, thus, the Inferno. Personally I like CA a whole lot better as it's much redder and not brassy.

Neck plate number?

I didn't know that. I'll have to look at some pictures of the two together now.

Congrats on the nice JS1 Flarocks. Always nice to get more than you expected.

That's very interesting Rich, I didn't know that. Can you post some high res pics of yours? My wife likes the 1200 better as well.

Re: JS1 Christmas Surprise!!!

I like the 1200CA much better too, but the JS1IR is a sweet guitar too. The strap button felt can be replaced for a few cents. The dowel repair is not uncommon for a basswood body guitar. Looks like a good one. And if you ever want to get rid of it, Rich will take it off your hands

Re: JS1 Christmas Surprise!!!

Hey, guys, I just wanted to throw in an unrelated quip. I was just playing this new guitar, (Ironically I play in a Satriani tribute type show) and was playing super colossal and decided to try and program my g-major to emulate the POG sound and holy s#$%....I got it. I was longing for an EH POG and now I don't need it!!!!! This is so cool I'm stoked

Re: JS1 Christmas Surprise!!!
