JS1 Trifecta!
Busy day today, after getting my first
JS1
in red a while back I've been searching for the others to round the collection out but the pickings have been slim. Of course now that funds are tight opportunities to get them occured at basically the same time, they even arrived on the same day. A nice black and white, both with the H-S-H combination, each in less than perfect but very acceptable condition. These appeal to me more than the newer models and its been a tough search. I think they look very happy together and I know that I'm happy. JS's are perhaps the most comfortable and best playing guitars I've ever had. Here's the obligatory group shot, I hope you enjoy.

Re: JS1 Trifecta!
Thanks for the comments, I'll take more pics soon. The white one really does look nice, it has aged to a slight creme color but not too yellow. I'd prefer for it to be full white but it's pretty close. I've been watching for a while, it's not like I had a lot of choices over the past 6-9 months and I'm happy with how it worked out. As always, as soon as I get a new (used) guitar I clean and set them up. Did the black one tonight, it's great. Tomorrow I'll do the white one. From then on it's going to be hard to decide which to pick up and play at any given time!

White JSs rule. Ibanez REALLY needs to bring back the white JS.
Nice collection.

I don't mind HSH at all. The more versatile the better. And interestingly enough, the 2,3 and 4 positions on these don't sound anywhere near as lame as they do on my Jems.
When first checking out the black one I was alarmed that the volume knob did not have a push/pull feature so I thought it had been removed or something. A forum search revealed the following informative post. Sure enough, the white one came later in the day and it was the same. I had no idea about this.
Stock wiring on these was just a HSH Jem wiring with the middle "single coil" being wired in humbucking mode (black+white soldered together and taped off) and the High pass capacitor being included into the circuit via the switch of the tone knob.
As opposed to the HH models, there was only 1 push/pull switch (tone knob) on these and no additional coil cutting switch; wrong info in the catalogues.

Re: JS1 Trifecta!
Also, fretsonthenet.com sells polished stainless steel tremolo bars for the Edge series of tremolos. It bugs me that all hardware on these is chrome but they still come with black bars. The red one has one of his bars, I'll be ordering two more as soon as they are back in stock. They're great for an all chrome hardware configuration.

I just can't imagine how great a day must be when TWO guitars arrive together

Actually I didn't like getting both at once. I've been looking so hard and for so long, to have them come on the same day was overwhelming and I wasn't able to appreciate them individually as much as I would have liked.
All new used guitars immediately get a thorough detailing, set up and string change. I wasn't able to do them both on the same day so at least I was able to spread that part of the bonding process out a little bit.
