There is a post I ran across here on the trem crossover (Which Trems fit which Routes), but from what I've found after breaking mine down, I have the following to offer:
On my 2003 JS100, I have an Edge II, which looks like it uses a Brass Knife Edge Plate (Looks like you can disassemble the Trem to swap it out) and brass Trem Posts/Inserts (Same deal, but do it before you refinish it).
So in the long run, it won't out last the high end trems using hardened steel, but if you're not a big whammy bar user, you can get some descent life out of the setup.
I've never sanded into a JS1/1xxx finish, but the finish on the JS100 looked nice and sanded nice and didn't sand through past the color coat all that easily, so that seems to be pretty good as well.
One thing I'm not a big fan of, is Ibanez seems to have left TOO LITTLE real estate around the trem posts; to the point the wood can crack vertically from the side that faces the trem block.
Easy fix with some epoxy, but still, something to keep an eye on if you are upgrading the posts.
