js100 strap button HELP

everytime i play my js100 standing up, the strap pulls the screw on the top horn almost completely out of the guitar.... it doesnt unscrew it or anything, just pulls it straight out. i can push it back in, but it only pops out again if i put any pressure on it?? its yet to come COMPLETELY out the guitar, but it is close.

YES, its korean and MAYBE its not the best built js out there but how can i fix this? take it to a guitar shop or is it a DIY jobbie

Re: js100 strap button HELP

just break some toothpicks into a couple pieces and put one of the pieces where the strap button screw would go then the strap button should stay put.

Cram as many toothpicks as you can in it mixed with wood glue. Let it dry, then redrill the hole the same size as the inner diameter of the screw and you're done.

Re: js100 strap button HELP

This is the solution.....

Go to a hardware store and purchase a small tube of Elmer's Wood filler

http://elmers.com/homerepair/product...asp?pCode=E855

Then:

remove the strap button

blow on the hole to remove as much particles as possible and clear out the hole for any particles of wood in there

apply the wood filler in the hole and fill it up the hole

as the filler is drying, try to compact it like a dentist does when he fills up a cavity in a tooth. Use a q tip to push the filler in when it is in the process of drying and apply some more to the hole to make sure it's completely filled up (wait about 20 minutes after you fill the hole to compact it).

let it sit for a day or so

screw in the strap button after it has sit for a day with a screwdriver and tighten it nicely but not too harsh.

let it sit for a day or two.

enjoy.

Jimmy

P.S.: the wood filler only costs about $2.00 here in the US, so it may be relatively inexpensive in New Zealand
