js100 trem upgrade ?

ok chaps ,
i have a js100 and im not really happy with the trem (not too stable and quite stiff) it a lo-trs II .
i've heard and seen some ppl swpping it for an OFR trem as its a straight swap but is that any better than the ibanez unit i have already . if not , then whats a good trem upgrade for the js100 ?

OFR is good and solid trem made of hardened steel.

The Gotoh trem is fantastic. It's just as stable as an Edge.

I'll post a picture of the edge trem I placed on my JS100 when I get home from Xmas vacation. You have to do some minor grinding to get it to fit, but it plays very well.

I can't speak for the Gotoh, but my German-made Schaller (It's a "Floyd Rose II") is one of the best trems that I own. I can do senseless whammies for hours and still be in perfect tune. I don't know if this is general consensus - just one personal experience.

Re: js100 trem upgrade ?

well i just bought an Ibanez Edge LOPRO Cosmo (with locking nut) from the bay for the bargain price of £56 . i would have preffered a chrome finish but for that price im not complaining. i'll get some pics up when its fitted.

Re: js100 trem upgrade ?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I thought it was better than starting a new one on the same subject!

I'm confused regarding what I can replace my Lo-TRS II with: I bought an OFR from the bay and wanted it fitting into my JS-100 but the luthier I took it to said that it wouldn't fit, and that it would sit in the trem cavity but poke out of the back of the guitar and make the trem sit too high.

Every other site I've read (plus many a thread on here) say that the OFR is a straight swap for the Lo-TRS II so is my luthier wrong? It was definitely an original Fender Floyd Rose, don't know the year but the box it came in was red and had a retro-looking 80's design.

Can anyone help please? I want to get rid of my sh*tty Lo-TRSII to complete my JS100 retrofit but am totally confused about what to buy and don't want to shell out for a trem system that won't fit. I don't necessarily want a Floyd Rose, I love the other (sturdy) Ibanez trems like the Edge Pro etc. but there seem to be so many versions out there now I don't know which one to look at buying.

Cheers
