js1000 edge

I'm getting a js1000 for my birthday (woohoo!) but was wondering if i should get a 03 model with the new edgepro trem. or the 98-02 model wth the low pro edge trem? Which one is better? Has the new 03 bridge been doing good? Let me know. Also if you had to choose black pearl or the white ... what would you choose? I can't make up my mind. They are both so sexy!

thanks

edit: by the way how much do js90th's go for? thanks!

Go for the '02 with the LoPro when you still have the chance to get one in good condition. And definitly go for black. There hasn't been a cool looking white JS since the JS1s. (cosmo on white pearl...uggh)

js90ths go for 1100€ - 1600€ used... in more or less mint condition. damaged ones will go much cheaper. the chrome wearoff may save you a few hundred (mine lost about 8% on the FRED and 3% on the PAFPRO and i got it for 1100€ ) ... there's one on german evilBay atm (8hrs to go and at 1100€).

I guess you know you wont get a new one since they're limited to 352pc (produced in 199... i think there's one on evilBay every now and then (once a year or so...). i recommend it

hmm... you don't like the white on the js1000 because it has cosmo hardware instead of the chrome? I dont know i think it looks good with the cosmo hardware on the white, but the Bp is awesome too...ugh.
I was kind of thinking the white would stick out more on stage then the black.. usually i'd porbably have dark clothes. What do you think?

Also why do you pick the low pro over the new edge?

Any other opinions? not a hurry though, two months until my birthday.

Why the Lo Pro over the Edge Pro? No controversy vs. Little controversy. People have had mixed results with the edge pro, lo-pro works fine. And I still like the BP

i'd have gone for a BTB... but since that's over now, too i'd go for the BP, if i wanted a js1000

it also looks amazing if you wear a kinda dark-grey shirt... so you won't have to completely change your dressing-style for the guitar

the white doesn't look to good in my eyes, tbh...

the BP finish is nice but i find black very overdone nowdays don't get me wrong though, the BP is much nicer than a solid black guitar, especially with the JS curves and under the right light, the finish really sparkles!

too many people have black guitars, especially BP JS's. I'm getting a BTB in a couple of days... I know in the US the BTB's are hard to track down, but here in the UK they are everywhere... if you want a BTB - they are stunning BTW - either come to the UK or order one from over here... (i recommend it)

Lo-pro or Edge Pro?

Definitely the Lo-Pro! =) it's a classic to me for a reason =P the new edge pro sucks big time! it doesn't even look like a killer.

After owning a new JS1000bp 2003 since March. I would now choose the Lo- pro over the edge pro any day. I'm having trouble with the strings breaking right over the chrome inserts that the strings rest on. Sometimes the strings are less than two weeks old and I'm using the same strings that Joe uses.

Most of the time it's the E or B string, but just the other day the D and A string snapped. I own 4 other guitars, 2 with the original Floyd rose, 1 original Lo- pro Floyd rose and 1 Jackson Floyd rose. All of those guitars keep their strings 3 to 4 times longer the new edge pro.

When your working the bar those chrome or stainless steel inserts are eating your strings away. The guitar was fine for the first couple of months. I don't mean to offend anyone by my comment, that's just my opinion.

I don`t like the sound of that Rusty! Man it`s bad enough the inserts don`t have the set screws, and now to hear this. I don`t want to pass judgment yet, but these kind of comments make me wonder

2 week old strings breaking under whammy use? Nah, say it's not so....

Exactly how long would you like your strings to last, a year or more?

Joke about all you want, I know what's true. I've been playing for 30 years and I do know when it's time to change my strings. It must be serious because Hoshino wanted the guitar back. I shipped it out this past Monday and called them yesterday to check on it. they told me they had to replace the trem with a new one and done a complete setup. I should receive my JS sometime next week.

That's not all, I also had to replace the high pass filter volume pot and the 3-way toggle switch. both of those went out about a month ago, I done the wiring myself. the volume wouldn't cut off and the 3- way switch was cutting out when switched to the back pickup. (contact cleaner didn't help)
I dont know maybe I got a bad egg.

I wasn't joking, 2 weeks of whammy abuse is far overdue to change strings

If you got it from Hoshino, the first 1200 that came in all had their trems replaced before they were shipped out [maybe you got one they slipped out before they noticed]

The guitar was from hoshino and I had to wait a couple of weeks before they had them on hand to ship. So I'm sure was one of the first few that came through. Thanks for the info.
