js1000 or Jem 7v :)

Hi, I am looking for an Ibanez and am split between two models.

I have a limited budget but I can afford either one used... expected prices are as follows! (Obviously I would rather spend less but that will not be the only factor)

Jem 7v: $1200
JS1000: $800

Now my style of playing is generally quite bluesy and liked the js1000 for that, but wow I tore up on a Jem My one big issue, is my main amp is a Marshall Major, 200 watts and I get my distortion by cranking it (thank god it gives me a power amp volume control!). I know the Jem will drive the amp, but will the js1000? The js100 wouldn't even phase it, but those are generic Ibanez pickups as opposed to the Fred. (I could get a boost, but I would like that to be optional). Also, I have a Les Paul which does the dirty work quite nicely, but how does the sound of the js1000 sound with an old Marshall cranked? (not as sensitive as Satch's JTM45s plugged in straight)

Also, what would you guys say the bigger bang for the buck is... I am thinking without the amp issue the js1000 is quite a better buy.

Definitely go with the js1000, I played one at a guitar shop, and I like it more than my jem, I think the fretboard is awesome. I don't know how it will sound through your amp, but it should be fine. You can also get a new Js1000bp for around or under $1,200, just look around on the web, or click on one of the above sponsors.

works fine with a jcm800 fullstack which definately has some years on it, as it was one of my dad's first marshalls... js1000 / js90th shouldnt make a difference here

Wasnt ehte JCM800 equipped with distortion and solid state? (I know nothing about them but I hear they have low input tolerance like a Mesa)

Don't think so. Every JCM800 I've ever seen has been 100% tube. I'm pretty sure that Zakk Wylde wouldn't be caught dead using a solid state amp.

Well with Zakk's tone, especially as of late I wouldn't be suprised... someone told me the JCM800 was solid state and I do not know anything about them except that I have two JCM800 cabinets, but I did look it up today

Funny, I played a JCM800 for the first time last tuesday, and my studio 15 sounds just like the JCM 800. Not sure about clean, but fully distorted anyway. It is VERY sweet! With the Jem, I get a tone like Bozzio Levin Stevens Falling Into Circles pretty good (also a LP Standard and a Fender Blues Jr. gets the tone well too! but Stevens uses a Marshall), and I the amp is still new to me so I have not played with all the tones. But like the JCM800, the middle is very effective!
