thanks man and i appreciate the feedback. its funny how some people say the js1000 plays better? that doesnt make much sence to me at all.

Rich is the only way to go. Save your pennies, or take out a personal loan.

His set-ups are second to none.

You'll thanks everyone here (and Rich) for it down the road.

I got my JS1200 from Rich at Ibanezrules and I wouldn't buy an Ibanez from anyone else. I'm not sure if the other places you were thinking would let you swap pick-ups straight at no extra charge (save the labor) but I have nothing but the highest praise for Rich's business. He sent me a fine instrument.

If you don't have a credit card and you need to use their payment plan, that's quite understandable. But I'll just make a few points. Sweetwater is as good as you'll get from a big box store, but their "45 point inspection process" barely covers a Bronze level setup. Add to that 1/2 the 1200's will have body contour problems, so you have a 50% chance of getting a bad one. And generalists who GC would send guitars to, I'm sure they know a little about everything. But do they know everything, about a JS1200? No.

But whatever you decide, good luck, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

thanks rich and i will keep this in mind. im not buying yet so chances are ill just save or get a loan. im very impresed with the kind words you recieve here and at the other forums. i have about a grand right now and a amp on the way. so if i go with you it shouldnt be long. im comming of a ten year layoff and waiting a bit more wont hurt.

i just got off the phone with my girlfriend and explained this stuff to her and she agrees that if you going to spend this kind of money then rich and eveyone here is right. so rich you earned my buisness and thanks to all who have set me straight with rich and ibanezrules. oh yea do you think i should have rich install the MO JOE? will it come with a team j craft case? ive seen them and they look sweeeeet!
one more thing.. do we get to talk with rich while ordering to let him know what we want as far as setup? and i take it HE does all the work?

Not only is rich the man when it comes to an Ibanez, he is also a consummate professional.

I talked with him several times before ordering, during the set-up process, and after. I even woke him up one day (after his stated "wake-up time") and he was still great to deal with.

There's a reason so many here swear by him, myself included. I got my 1200ca from him. Spectacular.

Pickups are so personal, it's like asking are brunettes better than blondes.

The Fred is one of my favourite pickups so I'd not bother upgrading, but that's just my opinion.

Re: JS1000 or JS1200? ready to buy.

I had the same thoughts when I bought my JS1200 over a year ago. I got a quote from Rich with the Mo'Joe added in but then I decided not to go with it right away. I wanted to hear the Fred and see how I liked its tone before getting a higher output version. To be perfectly honest, I liked the Fred and I haven't felt the need to "upgrade" (read simply "switch" since they're both excellent). Like someone else said here, just mess with the pickup heights to get the tone you want and balanced and you're good to go. I was more than satisfied with the Fred's tone but if you really want the Mo'Joe, there's nothing wrong with asking Rich to throw it in there, his wiring work is great, and it'll just be a little extra.
