JS1000 or JS1200? ready to buy.
hey all. im getting back into music after a ten year layoff due to financial hardships. i never replaced any of my gear untill now. i guess i just kind of closed that chapter in my life. but its in my blood and i started to get the ich about 3 month ago. boy have things changed since i last played. i have an amp on the way and ite a VOX VT 100. pretty sweet amp for a combo. ok heres the deal. i cant decied between the JS1000 or
JS1200
. i was leaning toward the JS1000 and changing out the bridge pickup from the "FRED" to the "MO JOE" and thats it. then i saw that the JS1200 has the PAF JOE in it. so if i got that guitar and switched ou the "fred" to "MO JOE" i would have the PHF JOE already there as a bonus.
is there any other difference between the two guitars besides the neck pickup and color? im so sick of trying to figure this one out. some say the prefer the JS1000 over the 1200 for playing reasons and they are both supposed to be damn near the same. please give me some pro/cons if any. i will base my decision from theis thread. or is it even necessary to upgrad from the fred to the mo joe. thanks in advence guys.

Only difference is color and pickups. Both have pickups that sound great. You can't go wrong with either. As to which pickups are better for you, that just comes down to personal preference.

They play identically if they are both setup. Not really identically as you would think cuase every guitar is different, but I mean just like eachother.

Whichever you buy make sure you get a professional setup, I bought my JS1000 through rich @ ibanezrules and he does a great job of as he says turning the guitar into an instrument. You would be surprised how these guitars leave the factory.

i have been talking with a guy from sweetwater. he says they set them up according to what you want. i hope that means they are professionals. he said that if i wanted to upgrade from the fred to the mo joe thay could do that too but at a cost. i hear tons of good thing about rich though.

Sweetwater is great. But when it comes to buying Ibanez guitars, Rich is the man you want to go to.

Re: JS1000 or JS1200? ready to buy.
I got a 1200, the only real difference is the color as previously stated. Otherwise the pickups are different, and it boils down the the PAF Joe has more output than the PAF Pro, on the 1000. So on mine the PAF Joe sits quite a bit lower than the FRED to even out the volume issue. Otherwise sound wise they are pretty comprable, both sound great. So updating the bridge to the MOJOE is just going to even out the volume output on the 1200, which otherwise can be done by lowering the pickup on the 1200. Either way its a killer guitar hands down. I hope this helps.

I agree. It all comes down to which color you prefer. I like the black pearl finish as it shifts its hue depending on the light. Still, I have 3 black or near-black guitars and I wanted the flash of the red and chrome.
Other than the output, the pickups are not all that disimilar in voicing and I'd plan to use whatever you got for a little to make sure you like them or if you still feel the need to make a switch. You can't go wrong with either.

thanks for the input guys. i think im goping to go with the 1200 and have them "sweetwater" install the moe joe for me or should i have the pro shope do it? they say the inspect each guitar and set them up to factory specks and i think thats all. i found the place called
http://www.parsonsguitars.com/team.php
and they have a kick ass pro that is a top notch pro who went to Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery. that where the GC in spokane washington send all there requests for setups. that about 80 miles from me.
i would love to use rich and all i hear is great things from him but sweetwater is letting me finance it or do flex pay. please check out the website and tell me what you think. the guy is in the spokane store and his name is Seth Ertl.
if i do end up going with the js1000 should i upgrade both pickups like the fred to the mo joe AND the PAF pro to the JOE? or would it be cool to just upgrade the fred to mo joe and leave in the paf pro? see that the thing i love both guitars and the CA is sooo sweet and it would only require one upgrade from fed to mo joe so its kind of a bonus having the paf joe already in there. it just seems like this keeps getting so complicated and i guess its really not. and why dont both the 1000 and 1200 come with the MO joe? thanks for all the help guys!

Re: JS1000 or JS1200? ready to buy.
I've got both a JS1000 BP and a JS1200 CA. I find myself playing the 1200CA more at gigs and use the 1000BP as my backup guitar. I think it's more a matter of color preference though than playability/sound difference (since they pretty much play/feel/sound exactly the same).
