JS1000 or PGM90HAM

*LOL* really though I wouldn't trade mine for anything! It slides a little, but it doesn't cause any problems playing. Love the pickups too. Never tried the Fred until I got the 1000 and I have to say in my 5 yrs of playing it's the best sounding bridge pickup I've played! I definitley plan on buying another 1000 but next time will be the 90th Anniversarry!!

The body when I rest it on my leg. It's so round on the bottom that it will slide forward. Like I said no big deal, it's probably me *L*

JS1000 for the versatility.
High pass filter, coil tap, the high end of the Fred and the low warmth of the PAF Pro.

One of the best necks i've ever played and all around quality.

Yeah thats one nice thing about Jems and RG body style but there really uncomfortable compared to a JS. Seeing a JS with a AANJ would be cool.

I think so too. *That's why when my Carvin neck arrives (4 weeks build time on a neck! *YEESH!) I'm gonna have Brian redo an old Radius body into one with a pseudo-AANJ. *Won't be exact, but it'll be much better. *I'll show pics when I get the critter back.

Tested the JS1000 and the RG3120 today. I spent over 1 hour testing, switching between the two every 5 minutes.
Playability: the JS fits like an old shoe (...does not smell like it though) but ... was detuned half a step. So much for fair competition.
the RG was not detuned and I needed about 10 seconds to get used to the neck. After those ten seconds I wanted the JS to have the same neck. Or..... the RG with a FRED.

Even better: RG with a FRED and a TONE ZONE, both in bridge position. * :idunno: :idunno: :idunno:

Aw man, you like the wizard over the JS?
The JS neck is much better than the wizard in my opinion.

The way it's made and the multiradius feature is very very cool. I love the round back. It fits my hand so much nicer and I would rather have the neck thicker if it doesn't affect my playing.

I am not totally convinced about it too. In this case the lower string tension made it (the JS) play less acurately. It is possible that I mixed it up with the playability of the neck...

So I'll be going back to the store tomorrow for some more testing. (not sure about that; they was already talking about a restraining order)

Definately try them at equal strnig tension.
Also keep in mind the JS neck has the bubinga strip in it for extra neck strength. As far as I know it resists warping in climate changes and such.

It really is a beautiful neck and I don't think the wizard has anything on it.

Yeah, I know I should try them at equal tension. That should make the JS more accurate when picking fast.
Each time I played the JS I thought it was playing very easy but contributed that for the greater part to the lower tension. But I didn't feel like wasting time adjusting the only JS1000 in the store. But they just ordered another. So in a few weeks I'll have another try.

BTW YngVaiTriani, shouldn't your name be MalmVaiTriani?

Since nobody really seems to like the pgm, let's compare the JS1000 to RG3120
bah!!! i love my PGM90 (provided by none other than Rich). when this baby is set up, and set up well, it will play better than pretty much anything if you like the wide-flat Jem necks. the thinness of the neck is very noticeable when comparing it to a JS1000. they are two very different guitars.

of course, the JS is also a good player, and is tonally very versatile.... it's probably the better every day axe. but of course, in the quantities the PGM90 was made, it's definitely more of a collectors item.

Erik, is that the PGM at Feedback you are referring to?
It looks really great, but I have trouble with that neck. The frets are too low, combined with the lack of scalloping this makes it impossible for my big fingers to do anything above the 20th fret. That RG3120 is also shweet but at tad heavy.

I guess that's why I should save up for that DNA they have...:mc: or just go for the UV

BTW what amp did you use to check them out? always the same one?

Hey eviltwin,

That's the one. *
The RG might be heavy, but it is great fot arpeggios.
The reason I haven't tried any JEM's so far, is that I have owned two. Both with twisted neck's (77FP and a 7PBK). So, why should I try the DNA? (Looks great though, did you happen to see the price?)
