Js1000 things to look for

I went to Guitar Center the other day and played a JS1000. It was the most comfortable guitar I have ever played. It was also really light and I loved the pickups. Anyways, I know i liked that particular js1000, but don't want to buy from GC. So is there anything to look out for when getting a different js1000. Like a used one? I want it to feel just a nice after a good setup. Also I saw in a thread where someone said they had the multiradiused js1000 or something... aren't they all like that? Let me know. I have to get this guitar!

There isnt much to look out for, obviously look out for any scratches or dings on the body or neck.

Also check the price - dont pay over the hills for one, one at the right price will come along eventually.

Personally i prefer to buy "used" guitars.
They just feel so much better, they feel played-in and most of all....they are cheaper.

So basically you cant wrong as long as you see that it hasnt got any major problems like repaired necks or broken headstocks etc.

yes i believe all post 98 JS1000s and the JS2000s have the multi radius neck

Well what about pre 98? they aren't? Shouldn't they all be? So i should ask for the year of the guitar if I get it used? And i think I want the multi radiused one right? as this is probably the one i played at GC? thanks

if its at gc its 99% to have the multi radius neck so yes.

If you can remember, if it was a flat neck, it was pre 98, if it was curved it was post 98 :P

Ok so I should make sure the year and if it is multiradiused? And multi radiused means "25.5 scale neck with a rounder radius (12") for good chording in the low register and more comfortable string bending in the upper frets." ? thanks

If you lay the guitar flat on a table, and look down the neck, a jem, or other quite flat necked guitar would look like this.

to be honest, it's very difficult to sight down the radius as it is very very subtle, even those radius gauges that you can get at StewMac aren't very accurate at this. if you really want the multi radius neck, anything post 98 should be fine i'd pay more attention to the fret conditions, setup and the overall condition of the guitar than the multi radiusing when looking for a used JS1000

well how is satch's guitar... are they multi radiused? Like the chrome boy? Or is thedifferent models of the js all different? By the way what are all the different models? and are the necks like the js1000's because that's the neck i loved.

Any 98 and later JS should be multiradiused except the JS100. As for the JS1000, an easy way to tell on used ones is, does the neck have a plaque at fret 21? if so, it's an older single radius one. Still feels good, but it's not the same.

If it's pre 98 then it doesn't have the mulit radiused neck, and just for your shopping purposes the JS1000, and JS1 are the same guitar(execpt for the multi radiused neck) in case you happen to come across one while looking.

Other things to look for if buying used are fretwear, trem wear, condition of the neck(bowed, or twisted), and just the overall condition. All those should really give away if the guitar has been well maintained, or not! You'll find the perfect one eventually! good luck
