JS1000BP - production differences?

I was looking at two seemingly legitimate JS1000s on an evil auction site and I noticed a curious difference.

One had a solid trem cavity cover on the back and the back of the headstock was blank (no serial #). The other had a trem cavity cover with a window (you could see the springs through the back), and the back of the headstock had a printed serial #.

What gives? Are they both genuine?

Wow, did I ask a really dumb question, or does nobody really know the answer?

There have been many variations to JS's over the years. You'd do well to familiarize yourself with them instead of asking generic questions that would require lengthy answers.

Re: JS1000BP - production differences?

Ill tell you know; mine has an open back trem (a window) and lacks a serial #. I guess my JS is just unlucky lol

I think that both are genuine, as Rich says, there are so many different variations. So many that it is very hard to know if it is genuine or not.

Ill give you a website if you like which has tables showing which variation of JS was made from which years:
